Given Maidanas win over Morales this weekend and given the massive paycut Khan is meant to take because of the failed undercard thanks to Hatton Promototions I think its best if Khan just pulls out of the fight completely. 1) McCloskey is not a mandatory for Khan 2) McCloskey does not deserve the pay day or world title shot 3) It makes my blood boil when I see other fighters benefitting from Khan ie Mitchell benefiting from a PPV that also featured Khan -V- Malignaggi, Fighters should learn to make their own name not milk Khans name. 4) Khan pulling out sends a message to Sky that Khan has HBO/ITV/Prime time options 5) Hatton promotions has failed miserably to secure a good undercard they should not be used to co-promote any Khan fights in the future. So should Khan pull out of the McCLoskey fight? I think the answer is a resounding yes!
I'm a boxing fan, not Khan's career guidance councilor. As a boxing fan, I'd be very disappointed if the fight did not occur.
I think hes signed the contract agreed on the date and everything he should go through with it instead of letting everyone down. Who really cares if he has one low payday hes already a multimillionaire. The fights not a massive fight it doesn't deserve to be on ppv.
1) so what? 2) why not? Undefeated European Champion. Did Khan deserve his shot? 3) ALL Khans ppv's have piggy backed on other shows. 4) Sky is the biggest dog in the park. 5) Khan won't be back in Britain for a looooong time. Apart from all of that, i agree.
Khan's as much to blame as Hatton here. Plus, if Khan hadn't picked such a no-mark of an opponent, then people might be more interested. No, but Khan's made a big issue out of how this is the fight everyone wants to see. Even though no one cares. He wasn't asking for it. Khan went after him. That's what headliners are meant to do. They get the interest, fans find out about other fighters. And Mitchell didn't benefit from a PPV. The Khan-Paulie fight was on ITV the same evening. Mitchell/Katsidis was on Sky. I doubt Sky could care less. He's made them nothing in previous PPVs. Hence why they're pushing him off of Box Office. And HBO has nothing to do with the UK, so I'm not sure why they'd care about that either. Don't know about this. But Khan has to take responsibility here too. Couldn't care less if he does. It was a poor fight in the first place.
He should blitz McCloskey then immediately sign for a fight with Bradley. Once Timmy is through with Amir, he can fight the winner of JMM-Morales ;-) Or move up and fight Floyd Jr before Robert Guerrero gets there:deal
My fear is that Khan taking a MASSIVE pay cut for this fight will set a bad precedent for him and lead to more paycuts in the future. Khan needs to draw a line in the sand or he might find himself on ESPN earning meagre purses.
Khan has made money in the past therefore he should fight for free now. Ofcourse, this rule does not apply to other fighters.
I hope that was sarcasm there, But I agree with you, Khan is expected to take a massive paycut and fight for almost free but any other fighter doing that is dumb and any fighter that pull outs over such unacceptable terms is a disgrace. Its double standards and the whole world knows why.
Maybe he should face top fighters, then he won't have any worries about getting paid, oh, no wait I forgot, the awkward Euro-level southpaw is preperation for the World class orthodox bruiser Tim Bradley :deal
