Thats purely hypothetical. Khan is young & things can change quickly in a division. I think he'll end up a light welter anyway. Theres every chance he could end up the best fighter in a division even if its only for a short while.
those of you that think Khan will just fight a paper champion for a paper belt think about this. he could have gone up to Light Welter and be a world champ by now, he would have smashed up Gavin Rees. but instead hes going for a world belt in a division that in a years time will have casamayor, campbell, romanov, guzman, marquez, katsidis, diaz, diaz, diaz lol, pacquiou, santa cruz. if Khan wins a belt at L/W he will have to do it agaisnt a genuine world class world champ, he could have done it the easy way. you gotta respect that.
I do respect that. I was just joining in the WBO slating, I do think Khan will end up fighting Campbell for WBA/IBF titles which would be a fantastic achievement for someone his age. Whether he would win or not is another matter.
Exactly. None of us would have said that Enzo Mac was a genuine world champion when he was WBO champion. So why, after Haye beats him and vacates the belt, does it suddenly become legitimate. It's the same with Pavlik. The WBO wasn't legitimate when DLH "won" it from Sturm. When Hopkins beat DLH it became tied to the proper titles. As soon as it is vacated it will go back to meaning nothing. We didn't consider Ibragimov a champion when Klitschko fought him so why does the WBO heavyweight title suddenly become genuine? The IBO has been held by some decent boxers too. Does that mean it's a proper title? Come on guys, three is enough.
1 is enough. its the WBC's fault. if they had forces mandatorys back in the day we would not of had this problem. The TV companys have alowed the promoters to get away with it. think of the fights we would have seen if we had 1 world title belt per division. Cotto vs Mayweather
True but we've always had 2. 3 isn't ideal so we definitely dont need 4. If we recognise the WBO in a few years we'll be recognising the IBO. Lets draw the line here.
Firstly, there is nothing wrong with the WBO. It is one of the big four, arguably the most prestigous and best looking Secondly, Khan will never get his hands on it, or become the man in any division. His flaws are too obvious for me to ignore now he is closing in on a title shot

Maybe but I do think he'll at least get a shot at Campbell for WBA/IBF titles at which point, win or lose, he'll probably be ready to step up to light welter which is a very weak division. I see no reason he couldn't win one or more titles there & dominate if only for a short while.
theres been world champions, who have unified and held titles for a long time and been main men in divisions that have had more flaws than Khan. 5 fights Khan against the right people, Khan will be ready. he wont fight the right peiple though.
Who do you see him beating? :? Bradley? Hell no based on his performance against Witter. Relentless, athletic come forward type, that clearly has some pop, nearly knocked Junior back to Bradford with that right Torres? This guy can seriously seriously punch, if nothing else Kotelnik isn't a big puncher, just a good technical fighter with a deceiving resume. He could definitely expose those holes in his defence, and although he isn't a hitter we know it doesn't take much with Khan Malignaggi - His best chance, this is winnable. Perfect Khan opponent really. Hatton should beat his ass though, and I don't see him stacking up too well to Hatton's roughousing considering what we saw last night I'm not seeing it. He'll be extremely lucky to getting a belt, but he won't be any closer to dominating than any of these guys are now
