Another thing that worries me about Khan, is that his defence sometimes doesn't allow him to see punches coming his way. He hides his whole head behind his arms, and it concerns me that he almost blinds himself. If he could learn how to see and roll with punches that he can't get out the way of totally, then I'd be more pleased.
Until Roach took him under his wings, Khan had learned very little as a professional. No disrespect to Oliver Harrison (former trainer), but he was practically fighting like he was still an amateur. Maybe if he had a Brendan Ingle or one of the Mayweathers in his corner form the beginning, his defence would have been far more polished.
I think he actually sparred with The Black Mamba. In that radio interview, when they AZZked Roger May about a $ vs Khan fight, Roger May said Khan wouldn't be able to do **** against Floyd. Maybe he saw leaky defense when they sparred?:think
Yeah Khan went over to work with him in Las Vegas when he was scouting for a new trainer. This was right before the Prescott disaster/blessing. You don't really need to actually spar with or see Khan train to know he won't do **** against Floyd.
I hope Floyd wins a competitive decision when he does fight Khan. Khan has the multicultural appeal, sexy face, handspeed, etc to become the next flashy flamboyant Cash Cow of boxing!
I awlays thought floyd was named pretty boy for his ability to leave fights without a scratch not because he is handsome? same with ray leonard.
Khan is in for a very tough test here. I shudder to think of Maidana's punches landing on that chin...his jab and footwork will definitely be the key here. He's never been a slick fighter, and his speciality is offence rather than defence, so he's going to have to remember his amateur days with the old stick 'n move style, using the whole ring, and emphasising handspeed. His guard is at least tighter than it used to be, thanks to Roach, and he goes through wars in sparring (taking hits from Pac must be good conditioning) so he at least won't be out of his depth when it comes to someone using pressure and power. It's a hard fight to call...Maidana has the power to end it at any second (and I think he has underrated speed, too) and Khan still hasn't shown that he can deal with a big puncher, but he does have the hand/footspeed, jab and right coach for the job. Honestly not sure what will happen in this one.
Pretty Boy Floyd is also a Notorious American bank robber, I always thought his name came from that .
