Add the USPGA to that list. They left Sky Sports on the promise of silly money being offered from Setanta. 1 year later they go running back to Sky and sign a 10 year deal.

but haye vs klit would have been ppv anyway.

they dont just advertise their ppv's on their sports channels

So Primetime have a good example of what not to follow, I was not using Setanta as a positive example, just saying if they can get that big so can Primetime. I believe there owner is Rihard Desmond who owns alot of media publications and alot of Adult channels, I'm sure this guy has some experience selling a PPV :hey

From khans twitter..not sure if this has already been posted:

Course not, but a huge amount of advertising does take place on the sports channels and obviously television wise the majority

They would be able to tell that they had an upsuge in subscribers to Sky Sports around the time of the Khan fight, so they would be pretty sure that the new subscriber wanted to see the Khan fight

Ani ce letter in the post informing this new subscriber of the upcoming haye Klit fight or a cold call from Mumbai would do the trick

out of the 20 years my family have been with sky and then the last 4 years i have been with sky on my own I/WE have NEVER received a letter or a call to buy a PPV.

put it this way, no matter how much they promote a cricket match on sky sports or any channel i wouldn't buy the cricket match because i dont like cricket.

But setanta did that on the back of signing up the rights to various sports. Football, Golf, Boxing, UFC etc and guess what they still never hit there break even target of subscribers. Football is the main driver behind subscribers. PL and CL football.

The only network that has chance to outbid sky for those two products is ESPN due to them being owned by Disney but even with all that money behind them ESPN are not doing what setanta did. They aint looking to take sky on in some battle. When the next PL contract comes up ESPN will likely try and get 2 packages but its probably going to be cut up in a deal with sky where they basically work together.

As for Primetimes PPV model. Well setanta started out like that and soon found out that trying to achieve growth by offering everything on PPV does not work. There is only a very very small percentage of things that people will pay extra for.

Neither have I, just saying, well maybe they should send out some ****ing letters it would be good idea for them

If you like boxing and wanna seen a Khan fight, there is a very good chance you will want to see the haye fight. A very good build up will lead to alot of buyers for the PPV event

This was there idea however much you might not believe or understand it.

I'm not saying they launch other channels and compete on that level, that would be impossible, but on boxing PPV very possible

The owner of Primetime owns a few scumbag "news" papers very popular with a lot boxing viewers and has a large audience, free advertising

Add Oscar to the mix maybe Hatton and a few other UK fighters signing with Golden Boy very very possible

Hatton promotions leaving Sky. I cant see that happening somehow! He will only go if Sky tell him to jog on.

Where else is he gonna get primetime viewing for his shows. Hatton is not silly!

An exmaple being Hatton, I'm aware Sky own his balls. Calzaghe has alot of time on his hands

And anyway as we all believe Sky don't proft form boxing PPV I don't think they would give two ****s about Primetime in this arena  That's why they told Ricky to stay out of view from primetime cameras lol

It's the same old story for the clueless armchair fans, one bad fight and khan is hated, when he demolishes Bradley u will all be up his arse ala post maidana fight
