Hes not ranked 6 by the IBF at Super Feather so should push Khan up in there rankings.

That was probably after the Limmond fight, and rightly so. Opinions have changed now.

Doesn't appear to be in the WBO's top 15 currently - but Warren may be able to influence that depending how the WBO view St Clair's recent losses.

Not bad. I think a stoppage win over this guys is better than stoppage win over that Danish fella. Khan will still win comfortably though, this guys is too small and isnt a one punch KO artist.

Its the kind of ideal oponent at this stage of Khans career, it a calculated 'risk', former champ who has fought some good fighters and tested them. This is the kind of fight that will make Khan look good.

Would have prefered Thaxton but this isnt bad.

St Clair is obviously not going to be as good as Warren will want us to beleive, but I have no complaints about him as a replacement.

BTW, I would like to see both Mtchell and Khan do well. It strikes me that this is wrong in some way. Why?

I've never seen him fight so I can only judge by his record, but he looks like he'll be a good solid opponent. Way more experienced than Khan and a durable fella.

Warren's going to have to go some to get people interested despite that though, because St Clair is an unknown in the UK. Could be one of those ones that, even if he wins, won't net Khan a lot of extra kudos.

Mind you, neither would the Dane...and at least with St Clair, a stoppage win in particular would look good amongst the boxing fans.

Whilst the Dane would have been better in terms of ranking, I do think this is a good replacement. On paper he should be able to give Khan some rounds and possibly cause Khan a few problems to learn from. Very much a learning fight which is what he needs at this stage.

finally a meaningful fight for Khan...I've been waiting nearly four years for this (Limond excepted of course).

St Clair imo is a much better opponent than thaxton. He has mixed in better company and hits harder (edit: that is bollox actually but has a similar ko %). Solid whiskers, so i think Khan will go 12 finally. Harris and Corrales are of similar size to Khan, so if we criticise Khan we must retrospectively give chico and vivian stick for facing him and not being able to put him away.

If Khan sparkles in thhis one, i cant see how he could go back to fight Thaxton?

I'm sorry but this does nothing for Khan.

He is fighting a 5ft 4inch Super Featherweight, yes he is ranked at Super Feather, but rankings don't mean **** these days and even if you took that in to consideration, he is ranked in the weight class below Khan and therefore does nothing for him.

Well done Warren, sell a fight against a "former world champion". My god people are ****ing gullible.

Yeah he went the distance with Corrales, a decade ago, a whole ****ing decade, the fact that he went the distance with Chico (rest in peace) means jack **** as it happened nearly ten years ago.

Plus, this guys has lost 2 of his last 3 fights and is coming up in weight.

More FW bull**** to keep the hype train and his cash cow rolling along nicely

but what has thaxton done better:

is is better to fight a world stage operator who is a super feather, or a domestic level lightweight if you are a prospect?

Didn't say Thaxton was better mate.

And Gary St Clair is not a world stage operator. If he is then so is Gavin "King of the 8 Rounders" Rees, and we all know that is bull****!

Hes lost to Cassius Bloyi in a rematch but won the first time to win the IBF superfeather wt. title.
Bloyi who holds a win over Manuel Medina and a few other world class fighters.
St. Clair also fought Vivian Harris and Leonard Dorin whoz a former champ at lightweight, his last fight was also at lightweight.

In theory, hes certainly better than Thaxton who best accomplishment is the British title.
