I think Khan would have taken it, but once Prescott was beaten by Mitchell there was little point, either career-wise or financially.

Of course Khan now has back to back defeats and nearly at rock bottom.

HBO won't take any softies like Sky would either.

imo Kahn may be better off moving up to Welter, having one or two tune ups and attempting a title challenge. I'm not getting ahead of myself, the reason I say this is because there are World Title options at Welter that could be (should be) viable options for Amir; Randall Bailey (IBF Champ) can bang but is not particularly skilled and is knocking on a bit. Paulie Malignaggi (WBA Champ) is a guy he already beat convincingly. And Ismael El Massoudi (WBA Interim). Obviously at Welter there are also the big money fights and large domestic fights like Kell Brook, which would be very interesting if Khan can come good again

His braintrust have to be smarter in picking opponents and save him from himself. That kid would fight ANYONE because he's ambitious, but the punishment he's taking will show later on in life.

If he wants to ease back in at LWW then...

Joan Guzman 36 years old now and still unbeaten, better days are gone.

Or a better test and maybe some sort of eliminator...

Lamont Peterson, clear up the mess and in Khans mind right that wrong.

if he moves up to welterweight then...

Jan Zaveck 36 years old, former world champion, not a huge puncher but solid

Carson Jones As we saw he gave Brook a few nightmares but not a huge puncher and easy to hit, if he puts on a better display than Brook then he shoots himself right up there.

I'd forget big punchers or world title shots until we see what damage that KO has done to him psychologically.

Paulie is a HBO fighter though... and McCloskey was the unbeaten European champion, plus that fight wasn't paid for by HBO, they just showed it.

They'd not get away with a McCloskey now, seated and defeated and all that.

He's going to have to face a top 10 opponent if he's headlining in the States. If it's an undercard bout or in the UK he'll get more leeway.

Jose Luis Castillo for Khan's Welter debut. Ex-champ, lost close fight to Floyd, way past his prime, won his last two, should be an easy fight!

That reminds me, i'd love to see a fight between Naseem Hamed vs Hatton, no weight limit.

    Excellent.

Even my dear old gran's started calling Khan out. She's 84 now bless her, but can still deliver a solid 'check clip' round the ear that'd likely have him doing the khan-khan all over again..

She's threatening to swap her winciette nightie for some old P.E kit and I reckon she stand's a puncher's chance!

Timothy Bradley would be a good choice - big name fighter without much pop.

Not a bad shout actually. I think that fight should be his ultimate goal, but not next. I think Bradley would beat him, but if Khan somehow was to stay on his P's and Q's he'd have a good chance of winning. And a win against Bradley would pretty much put him back on track. The problem is Bradley is too rounded a fighter for Khan and would probabily stop him, even though he's not a puncher he knows how to set them up. If Garcia was able to punch with him and counter his flurries, Timmy would do real damage. He's also harder to outwork.

That's the beauty of boxing though. One big win gets you back on track, just as one bad night can ruin everything.
