From only glancing at their pages on Boxrec it might not seem all that big a dip in quality - but this is a serious downgrade. While the Kazakh is, at 35, only two years the junior of Mamontov and himself a decade older than Baysangurov - and currently winless in his last five bouts - he would have provided far more difficulty for the young Chechen.

Baysangurov is the weakest fighter in his family IMO (compared with brother Khasan and cousin Zaurbek, a retired 154lb world titlist) - whom I correctly predicted would be given fits by light-hitting southpaw Amir Armenovich Amirkhanyan and who last time out this past February got dropped in the 1st round by 19-8 journeyman Arman Torosyan before rebounding and stopping him in the second. Zhuravskiy, meanwhile, started this negative streak by getting robbed blind against Stephen Danyo and is himself not just a lefty but one adept in applying stifling pressure, which Khuseyn seems averse to. Mamontov has a .500 record with just one KO scored professionally, and his last good run of form was upsetting back to back unbeaten prospects... in 2011. I'm not even going to make a poll for this, as Baysangurov should easily beat up Mamontov and creep his way back into some org's top 15 rankings or another.

What is Khasan up to, is what I want to know. Not much word on him since the Rob Brant loss 1½ years ago. He fought once since on a small hall show in Kiev, scoring a KO1, but that will have been a year ago tomorrow.

Honestly because of this change I'm probably not going to bother going too far outta my way to catch tomorrow's card on Матч! Боец, tbh. :nusenuse:

Now a very one-sided main event with a blah undercard.
