The only time Taylor fades is when he is in there with a relentless fighter who just doesn't stop coming forward. Abraham hasn't got the workrate to make Taylor gas imo. Infact, Abraham doesn't normally even start fighting till about the third or fourth round. He's probably the slowest starter in the game.

I've thought about this fight quite a lot. There are many things to consider, lots of question marks about both guys. I don't see this being fight of the tournament by any stretch of imagination but it's certainly intruiging. For me the big questions are as follows:
    • Did Abraham look bad in his last few fights because he struggled to make the weight? If so, how much of an improvement can we factor in?
    • Is Taylor damaged goods?
    • Knowing that Taylor has stamina issues, will he use different tactics and try to pace the fight better?
    • Are the judges going to be fair?
    • How does Taylor travel?
    • Will Abraham's power move up to 168?
To me, point 3 is key. Taylor now knows for sure that he has a few stamina issues and has spoken about visiting a doctor to find out why. I'm not interested in the why or wherefore but Taylor is concerned by it so I think he'll plan around it. He has to look at pacing himself better to suit an intense 12 round fight. He's pretty desperate to avenge that Froch stoppage and is talking a good game.

Froch had reach, power and a hunger that Abraham can't bring to the table. Froch challenges you to outman him. Abraham kind of stalks you slowly. Abraham can be outboxed and has been for periods down at middleweight. Taylor is a very effective boxer when he's on his game. This is why I think Taylor wins, looking good at times but also boxing smart within his limitations.

Taylor on points for me. 116-112 sort of score. Close but clear.

I like this match-up. I like any match-up this tournament can produce though. I think it will be more competitive than most of the posters here seem to think. These are both high quality champions. Of course Taylor has the better quality of opposition, by far, and he will be the best guy Abraham has faced, but Arthur is a fine boxer with a lot of pop and a ton of grit. JT responds to grit the wrong way. He doesn't like to box when the other guy is fighting. He likes to fight back and trade. If he didn't, I don't think Pavlik would've knocked him out. Both men are vulnerable enough to each other.

Thats was AA at 160 when he had to pace his fights due to him getting gassed ! .... we could see a different fighter at 168 ... either way its an intruiging fight I cant call it either way ....

Well, we know you are a habitual liar, but you could at least try to mask it. The answer is -TWO-. That's around two more than the amount of attempts you had at trying to tell the truth about anything.

Abraham himself, he is saying that it's too early to say if he can win the tournament. That is honesty.

Rocchigiani said he will win the tournament, and possibly every fight by KO. But he is notorious for saying stuff like that. ;)

Actually, I don't have anything against Pavlik himself, and think he is quite a capable boxer, with good reflexes, timing, and some grasp for ring generalship. But you have to be blind to not see that Abraham has too, with his weight and short reach being more his problem than his opponents.

I can't see Taylor getting robbed, oddly enough. It's not that Germany isn't corrupt; it's that Taylor not only throws punches that are cleaner than Abraham and he isn't going to get outworked by Abraham. Also, it's a very high profile fight AND Abraham isn't a "pure-blooded Aryan" like Ottke, so they won't be quite so sympathetic as usual.

That said, if Taylor loses/draws after narrowly controlling the fight, it would be payback for his questionable draw against Wright and close wins over Hopkins (I had him losing one and winning another; I would have disqualified both boxers from being worthless wastes of oxygen during that fight).

Every fight AA goes in and the other guy has advantages yet AA still wins. People have this idea that AA will get out worked in every fight, and that he will be out boxed or out jabbed because it sounds logical, yet it never happens.

If jermain stays on his feet for all 12 rounds, he has a good chance to win on points....
