I prefer Kostya over GGG. I love both but Tszyu is one of my absolute favourites, so much so that there's a solid case for him being my actual favourite of all time. I still to this day haven't watched the Vince Philips fight - I didn't have the internet back then so I only got to see boxing that was shown on terrestrial TV. And I wouldn't have watched the Hatton fight either had I not seen it live - obviously it was shown over here in the UK. That's how much I like Kostya.
I was absolutely gutted when Tszyu lost those two fights. The only way I could find out boxing results from international fights then (unless it was a big fight or one involving a big name star) was in the back pages of The Times newspaper on Mondays. I used to always eagerly check the results page every Monday after Tsyzu had fought to see if he had won or lost.
He's my fav too. I wish he could be more popular. Mosley and Oscar steered clear of his path. A fight with those 2 will be great.
Lol very confusing post. GGG canelo rematch got nothing to do with Tszyu Phillip. One is a close match one is a ko. I wish he did the Lewis way, but I'll not be confident of a win, maybe his crew thought the same. Any way, it's also Philips fault that he's not relevant on the latter date.
Yes they would have for sure. There's a nice article if you do a search on Google about the time Mosley went over to Australia (or was at least over there at the time) to pay Tszyu a visit at his home after Tszyu had sent him an invite to do so. Do a search for 'Shane Mosley & Kostya Tszyu: Boxing’s Smiling Assassins'
What hurts Tszyu's legacy is that he had ZERO interest in trying avenge his loss to Philips. He never wanted any parts of Cool Vince again. Like I said before, he lacked true heart.
Tszyu wasn't more skilled than Golovkin. Faster, yes. But Golovkin has a comparable skill level, and actually a higher ring IQ.
Not sure about that. Speed makes GGG tentative, evidence in the Jacobs and canelo fights. He refused to open up but instead rely on his jab. Not a slight to GGG, as knowing once shortcoming is sign of good iq.
