Well if you're showing your age then i am mate , i agree Conteh , Spinks and Franklin would all rip ANY of these latter day guys a new one with a bit to spare . .
It just seems to me nowadays because of so many different organisations lack of real depth of talent fighters can easily get at least 2/3 world title shots in a short space of time. You knew back then lose your title shot due to the depth of talent it was a real long rebuilding process. My favourite fighter Marvin Hagler look how long it took him to get a shot!Very loyal to his management aside had he of lost to Minter at wembley he would have been frozen out. Fighters in the modern era are lucky in the fact that you do get those 2/3 bites at the cherry quickly. Did it make fighters more focused then imo yes & the excuses we have seen fighters come out with in the modern era just frankly embarrasing.:thumbsup
Could you have seen Marvin blame a toe injury had he lost before the disgraceful scenes ? christ no neither could i , sorry to use David to get my point over but Hagler knew it was getting to **** or bust time v Minter hence the **** storm he threw at him . one world one champ .
