    Movie Review

    The Witch

    It's a piece of garbage....Done.:D

Okay I'll elaborate, I'm a huge movie buff, and also happen to be a big fan of European brainy art films from the 40's through the 70's, I've seen almost every film made by arthouse favorites Bergman, Bunuel, Pasolini, Fellini, Antonioni, De Sica, Visconti, Godard, Truffaut, Resnais, Melville, Chabrol etc. and I have no problem understanding one of them. So what I'm trying to say is, you can't use the "oh you're not deep enough to get it" bull**** on me, I "got" The Tree of Life and To The Wonder from Malick. It was a sad attempt at being an Ingmar Bergman movie with a quasi Dario Argento shrieking Suspiria soundtrack added to set an uncomfortable tone. The whole movie was in some proto-English olden times dialect, I couldn't understand a ****ing thing anyone was saying, they all sounded like a family of male and female Kell Brook's gobbling at each other.

It was trying to show how fear and isolation combined wioth children coming of age can affect the psyches of profoundly religious people and drive them over the edge into madness, its all been done before, there's nothing new here, just another attempt at by a liberal who's bankrupt of actual original ideas to throw off on Christian nutjobs some more, I think its well established that the Puritans were bat**** crazy by Arthur Miller.

They stare at each other, they stare into the woods, a boy tries to feel up his sister, the dad is a loon, the mom is ugly as f*** and the twins are really ****ing annoying. Dull attempt at being an arthouse deep message movie. The director thinks he's a hell of a lot more intellectual than he actually is. I've seen deeper films from French grindhouse exploitation directors from the 70's like Jean Rollin or Just Jaeckin.

    Umm, no.

It was a close fight, that I had for Charlo, so keep waiting.

In fact, it went exactly as I thought it would. Trout is a way better fighter than most give him credit for, so I saw it was a 60/40 fight for Charlo.

And it played out exactly like I thought. A hard fought match between 2 evenly matched guys.

    Charlo won.

Also, its a little petty you calling out someone specific like that. I wasn't one of the guys who called you out when you got it spectacularly wrong about Joshua-Martin was I? Because I don't feel the need to score little points

Of course you did, because your a hopelessly devoted Charlo fanboy, and no he didn't win, watch a little closer, most of the shots you thought were landing for Charlo were at least being partially blocked, while most of Trout were landing. Try watching it on mute and tune out the audience and the commentary.

I don't care if you had of called me out or not, I said Trout wouldn't get the benefit of the doubt with the judges in a close fight, that many including myself thought he won, and you said Haymon and the judges wouldn't play favorites....well they did.

I don't know why, but for some reason I've never liked De Sica's films.:conf Including that one, I don't like Two Women or Yesteraday, Today and Tomorrow all that much either, if I had to pick a favorite I prefer Umberto D.

You're much more versed on the matter than me, I did enjoy the film personally though. However, Cinema Paradiso >>>>>>>>

    Speaking of Italians....

I've almost been pulling my hair as far as Burns-Di Rocco and Marsili-Zlaticanin go.:wall

I really think Di Rocco and Marsili can pull it off, but will they get the nods.:think

Damn I took a damn beating this month. I took some risks and it bit me right in the ass. Thinking I might switch some picks, though I would really hate to do so.:think
