Yeah he seems fairly promising, he's still only a baby mind, 21 years old with his whole career ahead of him, he should take things nice and slow, right some technical flaws which he has (especially dropping the hands after throwing combinations leaving his chin out to dry) loose some weight put on a little muscle as you said and he could turn in to a real contender, i was impressed with him tonight. Nope not quite, the trouble with him is he put on all that weight, then gassed after 5 rounds, he showed so much heart to fight as he did, at one point he looked out on his feet (through exhaustion) then when McDermott uped the pace to catch Fury out Tyson too upped the pace andstarted landing the more promising blows which got big John out of there, by the eighth round the were both breathing very heavily, Tyson's crisper and sharper shots were the key factor in him winning this fight.
Thanks Davies... :good I suppose i should have went with Fury but was hardly confident that hed pull it off. oh well. Do you know who hes lined up to fight next then or is it wide open? i dont know the domestic scene very well over there.
Yeah to be fair i wasn't 100% he would pull it off after his last performance with McDermott but he showed he had learned from his mistakes (making a fresh one in putting on 18 pounds since they last fought) nontheless he still looks very promising, and is one to wach out for. As for his next move, i imagine he will want to fight Chisora for the British title (Tyson holds the English) i think he should develop more of his game before he dives in thee with Chisora as Jonny Nelson pointed out in the post fight commentary he's still only 21 why rush him, there are plenty of up and coming heavys in England at the moment the ones to wach out for are, Derek Chisora (13-0) 8 KO's (British Champion) Seems to be a bright talent, eager to please and getting technically sound fight by fight, has lots of room for improvement and can only get better with time, had a flattering win over an extremely shot Danny Williams last time out but did the job and won the Britsh title, also holds a KO victory over Commonwealth champion Sam Sexton Tom Dallas (11-0) 8 KO's To be honest i haven't seen too much of Dallas, and what i have was against limited opposition, he does however seem to be a very good boxer with heavy hands, holds his defence high but also lets his shots go, gets 90% of his opposition out of there in style. Tyson Fury (11-0) 9 KO's (English Champion) Already mentioned Fury, very promising young prospect. David Price (7-0) 5 KO's (Olympic Bronze Medalist) Has the highest amature pedagree of the bunch (Olympic Bronze) but seems to be the slowest off the blocks as far as competition and activity goes, needs to up the level of opposition as his fights look total mis-maches most of the time, i will assess him more once i see him step it up a bit, he does however seem to be pretty promising has had zero trouble so far. Larry Olubamiwo (9-1) 8 KO's I can't quite work this man out, he is an extremely heavy handed fighter no doubt, whoever he connects with are gonners, but journeyman Danil Perret beat him on points over six, and if you ever seen him fight you would wonder how the hell that happened, tonight Larry looked good in desposing of Dave Ferguson in one round though, i would like to see him go the distance a bit more for him to work out his boxing skills as his power is already there to see. Sam Sexton (13-1) 6 KO's (Commonwealth Champion) Mabey the best of the bunch so far, he has recovered from the Chisora loss brilliantly and now holds the Commonwealth title, has two wins over Martain Rogan and a win over Chris Burton, looks to be a promising prospect good offensive skills and a good defence. Looks to be a fair few decent prospects over this side of the pond, we shall see over the next year or so who starts to shine, looks like the HW scene is on the way up though :good
