:yep They missed two very big chances (Second one was by Eriksen) against Bulgaria.

 

Well, he did had results, but when he doesn't he ruins teams. Nothing is in the middle with him, either the best performances, or the worst. He beat Holland 1-0 in Romania and draw away qualifying Romania from 1th place to European Championships. He's extremely defensive, always players with two central defensive midfielders. I remember once he played with 4 central defenders. Two of them had decent abilities to play as DM, Chivu and Radoi.
The problem us fans have with him the most, is not necessarily his over defensively approach but the fact that he has fixed ideas, and doesn't change it for anything in the world.
For example he played Stancu who has only 9 goals scored in Turkish Championship, 3 from penalties. Along with Stancu in offense he has started with Grozav 6 goals, a young striker that was reserve at his 2nd rated club from Romanian's Championship. On the bench they had Rusescu 18 goals, Keseru 17 goals. More than that Rusescu enters late in the game against Hungary, quality was clear shown, he kept the ball well, passed well, the game started to look a bit better with him, entering better in combinations.
After the lucky 2-2 where Chipciu that played only 5 minutes and saved a vital point, he doesn't starts this guy who Ajax wanted to see, and scout, and who is in great shape. He doesn't change Stancu, who was the worst player of the field against Hungary. Terrible bad game, lost all the balls, left alone with the GK doesn't control the ball well hits it by mistake going out of play. The press has implied that he should've replaced Stancu and not let him play for 90 minutes, and I believe out of stupid pride he played him again 90 minutes again against Holland. Oh and he played Grozav again, who's one of those fix ideas of him. The only one who's been decent in attack, Mutu was replaced, though Mutu is old and past it and would have not argued if he was replaced by the other two who I mentioned up there.
There have been players banned by Piturca at National teams due to conflicts with him, Radoi, Sapunaru, Rat for a short period, and he tried to do it even to Hagi.
But when put to choose between him and Hagi guess what the Romanian Federation had chosen.

Mutu and Popescu(Barcelona's captain) were also on his black list for a while.
Ps: Almost forgot to tell you that he replaced first most offensive player against Holland, Popa, because he was to offensive.

Mutu came into the National gathering in Romania, two days prior, after he asked permission to do so from the Coach. Piturca agreed with one condition, that the player needs to announce and motivate when and if he leaves the campus. A car drove in and Mutu apparently left the campus for a short time. When he came back Piturca was angry and yelled at Mutu, and wrongfully accused him of being drunk. Mutu barely restrained himself of hiting the coach for such accusations. The national team coach then concluded, pack your bags and leave, I never want to see you at the National team again. Mutu packed his bags and then called the Romanian Football Federation president, who said he should stay. And the President called Piturca and calmed the spirits. Piturca was perverted after that, he played Mutu against Hungary where he knew he needs him, we had a great chance of wining on paper before the match, Mutu scored a goal. And he humilated him before the Holland game where we had little chances to pull out a draw. Mutu was announced as a reserve then few hours later in starting 11 then again announced reserve. And was only brought in only at 3-0 for Holland.


Mutu: I don't come for X or Y to the national team, I don't come for a certain coach, I came for Romanian representative, anybody can be coach. I play for Romanian, that's it. So every time I'll be called I'll come and try to do my best as a pro.

Mutu is out for the next 2 games.

Steaua's manager: Chipciu was probably rested for the Trinidad&Tobago match( ironic, the match doesn't exist)

Piturca said that Steaua's players were tired and not performed as expected physically, with the exception of Popa and Bourceanu.
Chipciu played 5 min and scored in the first game, was also reserve in the second game played only 30 min. How can he be tired ?
Chiriches(CD) was the best player with Hungary, praised by the press. Didn't had many errors against Holland.
Tatarusanu is the GK, don't think he was tired also. What was he expecting to score with the GK ?! He played only against Hungary.
Tanase had showed fatigue and poor form at Steaua to, he knew what he put in the field.
Gardos(CD) and Pintili(DM) were linear players didn't had many mistakes, they were average, Gardos did made the penalty against Holland, but so did others had those kind of mistakes, as did the captain Rat at the first goal.

Steaua's coach was pissed of about this statement, the team was repeatedly praised for their capacity to do intense pressing and run like hell suffocating the other teams with their effort. Steaua is in the 1st position already considerate Champions by most even tho there are still a lot of games to play. They have 12 points lead from the 2nd place. They eliminated Ajax and were close of doing it to Chelsea to, one more goal was needed.

Piturca: I won't leave that easy, from the national team.

I never have any idea what you're all on about when you get on this stuff and my initial assumption - justifiable, as this is Kirk's (Boxing) Championship in the General Boxing Forum - is that you're speaking of boxers I've somehow never heard of. :?

A little tangential chit-chat is one thing, and these Kirk threads have always had some...but of almost 250 pages now only three months into 2013, I'd say a good 75 are about soccer. :!:

I have to agree our little discussion is getting out of hand, but it's much more fun if you can kick a fellow Kirker when he's down in the Kirk thread instead of in the Lounge. :yep
