**** Kirks Championships 2013 ****

That whole album, and its predecessor (Facelift, more of a bluesy, gloomy, dark hard rock sound) and successor (S/T aka Alice In Chains aka "Tripod", more of a grungy, heavily produced sound ranging from sludgy heavy metal to damn near alt-pop...) stand as some of the greatest works of the 90's.

They've reunited with a new singer and put out two new albums, which are okay - but that classic era had some downright beastly and untouchable output during their very short (only five-year) prime.

 

If you like Rooster you should dig the rest of it.

Dirt contains very little filler (there isa tiny bit) and might just be the best of the 90's AiC catalog.

I personally go back and forth between all three, depending on mood. (or really, whichever I haven't jammed in the longest :yep)

Favorite tracks?

Mine are probably Rain When I Die (the definitive bleak grunge ballad ...along with "Love Hate Love" from their debut...), Hate To Feel, Down In A Hole and the title track...but outside the couple of filler cuts that record is jam-packed with hit single caliber material...though if memory serves only Angry Chair, Would?, and Rooster official achieved that distinction...which still ain't too shabby.
