I was pulling for The Netherlands, but I'm okay with Messi getting a shot at the WC since the amount of hate he gets in legacy discussion because he "can't bring home a WC" gets a bit irritating.

Well, the Dutchmen have nothing to hang their head about - right? :conf Going to penalty kicks is hardly the worst manner in which you could exit. (ask Brazil ...except they don't exactly get to "exit" with grace...awkward!)

 

The former is a strong, natural super feather of the sort against whom I don't think Lopez can afford to war at this point (and given their styles, it will be war) - and the latter is an underrated fringe operator who keeps himself active while biding his time waiting for the big shot to prove whether he's world class (he was supposed to have fought Maidana in April of last year but it didn't pan out, as Maidana got offered Josesito. We did much better as expected so it's not a huge dissapointment.
Though, 2 WC finals back to back had been much better of course.

Now we can't lose the 3rd place match from Brazil, because THAT would be embarrassing after what ze Germans did to them.
