Kirks Championships : Boxing Prediction League : 2018

My reign has been pretty long actually in terms of days. Has there been a longer reigning People's champ than me?

 

I don't believe that you could explain the theology of Augustine and Aquinus to a child, let alone the more modern theologies of Kierkagaard, Barth, Niebhur, Whitehead, Tillich. Guys like Calvin, Anselm, Eckhart, Melanchthon, and Bohme are frequently beyond my understanding. This stuff is probably more intricate and intellectually sophisticated than rocket science or brain surgery. There's a reason why all the popes have to have advanced doctorates and speak nine languages.

You don't have to be an intellectual to be religious. It's very egalitarian and anti-elitist that way. But if you are an intellectual, religion offers an unending bounty that will keep you occupied your entire life. Even if you don't want to read theology or bible commentaries, religion has permeated all of society: the art, the music, the storytelling. Then on the outside of all that are the academic disciplines which study religion from psychological, anthropological, and sociological points of view. William James, Max Weber, Huston Smith, and Mircea Eliade are intellectual heavyweights.

Just type into google "How long does it take to be ordained as a priest." The answer comes up "The seminarian stage requires four years of study in theology at a seminary. After graduation from the seminary, the priest serves for roughly one year as a transitional deacon. It typically takes five years from college graduation to ordainment, provided the priest has studied philosophy at the undergraduate level." Priests have to know this stuff. Laypeople, not so much. It's not important for everybody to understand the doctrine of transubstantiation, or sola scriptura vs sola fides. Most people get the basic minimum education necessary to save their souls then are told there's more to learn if you want to.

Really, I felt like I just watched the same movie twice. The FBI chick has that same gun fight in Sicario with the Mexican cartel guy at the beginning of the movie as the FBI chick has against the reservation tweaker in Wind River. Then she basically takes a backseat for the rest of the movie while the wise hunter/hitman takes care of business. He saves her inexperienced ass in the end and basically kills everyone single handedly. There are other similarities but those ones really stuck out.

 

One of the few movies that could really benefit from a proper sequel that somehow hasn't already been poorly regurgitated and repackaged...

Kirk won the title from BeastsideBoxing on July 19, 2013 (Henry Lundy vs Ajose Olusegun)

After the all-time record of 10 consecutive successful defenses, he lost the title to Robney on October 19, 2013 (Mike Alvarado vs Ruslan Provodnikov)
