The tournament format is being used, and with non-seeds being randomized in position across the draw, such anomalies occur. With the old Elo format it wouldn't have happened. That's why I was saying there are pluses and minuses.

The original seeds were based on Elo:

Champion: Dfaulds (1)
BoxingABC1 (2)
PinoyProdigy (3)
pincai(4)

and everyone else was randomly distributed in the 8-player KO draw apart from nellybc who was the mandatory challenger to Dfaulds. As it happened you (and myself, although I got schooled by pincai) ended up on the other side of the draw while Chuck Norris was placed on the same side of the draw as the champion.
