Yeah, you know, IMO the Koki Kameda vs. Alexander Munoz- fight was pretty close, I would have no problem with either man as the winner, but the Romanian was robbed badly, it must have been hard for him to be robbed that bad on christmas...
I think there is a tendancy to underate Koki Kameda on this site. He is a great ring general with solid fundamentals. He clearly won this fight tonight. Alexander Munoz was hitting air an elbows. He a little success with his uppercuts but he was eating clean straight lefts and counter right hooks all night. Shocking RBR analysis.
No problem, normally, I don´t cry robbery, because it´s unfortunately clear, that if you fight the champion away at his hometown, that you have to dominate him (although I don´t agree with that), but this fight was a pure dominance, the only thing Olteanu could have done better (with his abilities), was, to knock him out or score some KD´s to get a draw...
Really I found it hard to give Koki rounds where he was basically landing **** all but counters. Munoz jab was on point as well. I felt Koki won but it wasn't an easy fight to score with one fighter having almost all the quality shots in Koki and the other having almost all the activity. Have to say Koki throws some excellent punches especially the straight left hand he just doesn't put them all together well.
Great observation. Koki is not a combination puncher at all. But what he is, is a deadly accurate, thinking kind of fighter. The way he fights is so calculated, and different from fighters in the lighter divisions. Back to the fight, I honestly felt Munoz's work rate was not effective workrate. He was throwing so many punches, but seldom landed any clean punches to deter Kameda. Kameda on the other hand, he was making Munoz pay for his mistakes. I feel 116 - 111 was fair when you take in to consideration the knockdown and point deduction.
I had Koki by one point with the Knockdown and point deduction but as I have said I missed the first two rounds so It could of been a good bit wider. I'd agree with what you are saying it wasn't effective pressure at all by Munoz apart from his jab and occasional right hands he was very sloppy. Once he opened up Koki made him pay with sharp counters. As you say Koki is great at what he does very counter based fighter would love to see him put that Straight left and right hook together in a combo.
