which is why the division is terrible. He beat up Chris Arreola, who is an absolute bum. Look at Vitali from a boxing point of the view. The guy has no feet-hand coordination, terrible footwork, horrible punching technique, horrid defense. His brother Wlad is a 1-2 punching robot, who freaks out under pressure and has no chin. The fact that these two guys are dominating just proves how bad the division is. The fact that you have guys like Valuev and Arreola in the top 10 proves how bad the division is. There's nothing more that I can say than that. If you can't see how the bad the division is your either blind or you know nothing about boxing.
In a jabbing contest, who would land more? Holmes or Wlad? Don't say "Only because of his reach advantage" because the reason Holmes jab was so good was his reach advantage over 90% of the guys he faced.
I agree 100%. I used to have more faith in ESB but seriously, these guys will not give credit where credit is due. BOth brothers fight the top ranked guys and they blow them out, barely dropping a round in the process.
I'd actually love to see them do just such a thing in a little exhibition, even if it's just a few rounds messing around with headgear. Tapes of it could be sold wholesale to gyms and trainers.
I'd have my money on Wlad. I think Wlad is more equipped to deal with defending a jab of someone with Holmes reach than Holmes is dealing with Wlad's reach. Holmes relied on his size a lot more than Wlad, Wlad has pretty damn good defensive skills, better than his brother who relies on his size and massive lean span to get in and out of the way of punches.
but who are they fighting ? Chris Arreola? Are you kidding me seriously? This is a guy who stands upright, flat-footed, with a target hanging over his nose. Is that really supposed to be an impressive win? Then what do we have, Sam Peter? Oleg Maskeav? It's the bum of the month club.
Well I disagree. There has never been the size, variety of origin, or the variety of styles and contenders. Povetkin is a prodigy, Chambers is a Bigger, better version of Byrd & you have guys like Arreola, Peter, Tua is still around, David all mouth Haye, etc. The division is alive & well & you should appreciate it before it's gone. Don't hate just because you don't relate to the bros that are ruling it.
I asked you nicely to list 5 Heavys throughout history with a better jab than Wladimir Klitschko. I have a feeling you either don't know what a jab is or you can't name 5 fighters better.
They're only bums of the month because they got dominated by Vitali or Wlad. Funny how when they were winning fights impressively, they weren't bums?
That's funny you should bring up the "bum of the month club" since that was my favorite fighter's time, Joe Louis. He could only fight what they put in front of him. Whether or not you personally thought Chris Arreola was a threat is not relevant but he was ranked and people wanted to see the fight. It really doesn't matter what you or I think, the gate matters though. :thumbsup Both fighters made stacks of cash no doubt.
I think Larry Holmes might just be the single most overated Heavyweight Champion in history. He defended his belt against the likes of Tex Cobb, who would never get a shot today. He just isn't good enough.
