It's not necessarily about exciting the crowd but recognizing when you are not doing enough and picking it up a bit. 13 right hands thrown in a 12 round fight, I haven't seen that before.
Lewis, Vitali, Tyson, Foreman, Frazier would have KO'd Brag...Wlad toys with him. Wlad has more ability than all the above, but not the will.
Klitschko was less eager to throw the right because Ibragimov is a southpaw counterpuncher and thowing a straight right against this type of opponent can leave you wide open. That's what Klitschko was referring to after the fight. Imbragimov had his left hand cocked and ready to counter the whole fight. The jab worked so well that there really wasn't a reason for Wladimir to risk leaving himself open. The rights he did throw were well-timed and effective, though.
The right hand is the best weapon against a lefty. By not throwing many right hands, he actually gave opportunities to Ibragimov.
He did win . . . to unify the belts. But to say he fought perfectly . . . someting is definitely wrong with your head. Maybe you're a plain Wlad nuthugger and not a boxing fan. Perfectly??? :-(
Uhhhh......you do know that a straight right is one of the most effective punch againsta southpaw. Especialy a southpaw that your dominating with a jab.
I agree wlad should have thrown more. But you cannot possiably blame only wlad for a boring fight. Sultan did absolutly nothing I would expect a lot more for a title holder, he basicly just handed over the belt after the 3rd round and tried not to get hurt.
This was the most exciting fight I have ever seen. Now the only thing left to do is deciding wether to rank this fight below or above Hearn-Hagler in terms of greatness, excitment, and skills displayed.
You can't apply the same general principals to every fighter. Klitschko throwing the right at the wrong time could've left him open. That's what happened against Corrie Sanders, that's what Klitschko said after the fight and that's what he revealed in the ring. Not every southpaw fighter is like Chris Byrd. Some wait and counter with serious conviction. I felt watching the fight, and apparently Klitschko agreed, that the jab was going to be his staple punch against this particular southpaw fighter.
I like using sarcastic humor in my posts too. But it seems you're equating a slug fest with skill. Of course Hagler-Hearns was more exciting and they were top MWs... It's been a long time since I've seen that fight but didn't Hearns tag (and cut) MH early in that fight forcing MH to take the fight to TH? He did and managed to stop Hearns, but a few well conencted bombs from Tommy might have stopped Hagler. Their fight was exciting just like a high scoring game in team sports is to the casual fan - but a 10-9 MLB game isn't necessrily highly skilled unless you're just looking at offense.
i said the same thing...boring??? **** i was ****ing sreamin "**** yeah" everytime the jab snapped ibragimovs neck back...so you know I was damm pleased...why would klitschko give up an easy unification just to please u "only watch boxing for the knockouts" slobs who call a masterpiece of the art of the jab, "boring"...**** that...he was like" everyone look at me...ONE HAND!!! easy.. easy" it was some what similar to WINKY'S jab domination over TRINIDAD...**** yeah...this was class in display
When I watch the fight again, it was much more impressive. Vlad won so easily, made is look like a walk in the park and that's not easy to do.
