The US can't stand being irrelevant.

They had to make up their own version of football and call baseball a 'world series' to try and feel better about being crap at soccer, rugby and cricket.

    ;)

Klitschko will only truly be appreciated after he retires just like Lennox Lewis did.

How has Wladimir been fighting tomato cans? He has fought nothing but top 10 fighters.

Now Shannon Briggs fought his way up to title contention fighting tomato cans.

61000 fans is actually really amazing. I cant believe more people arent completely floored by that figure. Especially since nobody returned their tickets after haye backed out, it just proves they were all there to see Wlad.

Nobody in the USA could do a 60K arena now no matter what card you put together. boxing just hasnt been that big in this country in a really long time.

Sadly, there is an element of truth to this.

Wlad is not promoted or discussed much here. That is also part of the problem.

Don't let the idiot author of that article, or assclows like Prescott and Greene sway your opinion of most American boxing fans. We do appreciate Wlad and recognize his talent and importance to the sport.

i'm just saying if it was not advertised or promoted and it was like just a local thing of "come see wlad klitschko" write up in a newspaper hardly anybody would know who he was or care.....

if it was a tyson, pacquiao, holyfield, or lennox lewis i bet you would get a good crowd.....

americans could careless about wlad.....now is that his fault? no not really......

I guess over there in Germany, homosexuality is smiled upon. Arent Siegfried and Roy German? Here in America, we prefer heterosexual Champions, not the Klitschko Queens.

The criteria by which some folks judge Wladimir is ludicrous. About Wladimir "going to war": This is absolutely silly. To go to war, you need someone to take you to war. The only person who has come close in the last few years was Sam Peter. And even he was greatly outclassed. I equate this to saying the U.S. Air Force sucks because they won't go to war with anyone, instead they just blow everybody out of the sky. To go to war, you need an opponent that can match you, so far that simply has not happened. About Wladimir not being tough: If the man isn't tough, then why does he keep winning? Training to be the best in the world is probably the toughest part of being a boxer and a world champion. If the man was weak (not tough) you wouldn't see the consistent performances and the shape he always brings to the ring. This not tough enough argument ranks equally with the "won't go to war" argument. Basically, it is not one. The Wlad doesn't have a chin argument: Okay, I agree, he has been knocked down, but he has never been knocked out. I attribute many of his knockdowns to his general shape (top heavy) and not his chin. Until someone knocks him out cold, then I'll say he has no chin. And finally, about Wlad not being entertaining: It's not his fault that his ying to yang has not shown up yet, but he will. Vitali was Lewis' worst nightmare. The man retired rather than fight him again. I specifically recall his trainer telling him that if he chose to fight Vitali again, he would not train him because Vitali had his number. This happens to all boxers. It simply has not happened to Wladimir yet. Be patient. Sooner, not later his defining challenger will arise.

What have you to say about he and big sister Vitali "experimenting" with each other in their experimental teenage years?

I'd say that's a rumor started by a jealous and envious person.
