He did fight scared-ass, but that was Manny's doing. Manny got him way too cautious after they sampled Peter's chin. He still ********* him convincingly and it should have been 118-111 if you negate the illegal rabbit punches by the rabbit punhing KING of all time: Sam Peter! Don't think he will get away with it in Germany.
I am laughing at the Peter-ites in this thread that are desperately hoping for Vitali to pull out of the fight. It is not going to happen.
I think that Peter is a decent heavy (he could be alot better if he trained harder, hence came in under 245 for his fights), but after seeing Mcline hurt him like that, I have to think that if Vitali is healthy he will definitely not let Peter off the hook if he hurts him. Peter will be dangerous for the first couple of rounds, but as was previously mentioned, he seems to loose his handspeed as the fight goes on and depends on that clubbing overhand right too much. I personally think Vitali will stop him in the mid rounds.
After round three, Peter is toast. I predict that Vitali is going to come out and throw some bombs early to get Peter to retaliate aggressively in the first rounds. He will then tire Peter out and begin to open the biggest can of condensed whoop a$$ in the history of the sport. Wlad will be there to hand him the can opener and Manny Steward will stir the pot. This is going to be a BEATING.
