you somehow stating that as a recognized fact, but I'm not agree with you and many wouldn't. I think Vlad's prime is now, back then he was too green, that lead to mistakes that he doesn't do anymore no matter how boring he looks to you or other boxing fans. His prime came past 2003, probably by 2007-2008 he totally established his style, boring, but absolutely effective and safe for his type of beard.
I don't know how green he was supposed to be.. He was 28 years old, a former olympic gold medalist, had over 40 professional fights and was defending an alphabet title. He may have sharpened his skills upon hiring Steward, but its a difficult case to make that he was " green " against Sanders.. You also have to look at the disadvantages that the guy across the ring had.. How many world beaters had Sanders fought despite being 38 and having close to 40 fights himself. Was he really anymore experienced than Wlad? Look at the vast difference in age, conditioning and recent activity.. Look at how fast and brutally Wlad was KO'd, regardless of these advantages. Now, let me say that I don't sum up Wlad's whole career based on this loss, and can appreciate how he's improved and redeemed himself, but there are others who write this loss off as just being a mere case of " inexperience " or " complaicency" and frankly, I don't buy it..
lol@ backtracking. Next to Moscow or not, Ukraine does not mean Russian. Don't bother specifying now comrade, you already declared your posts to be spot on.
i believe you are consciously sliding towards specific case equalizing it to the whole post-weak vlad period which is happening now. again i repeat there are some people who can be late bloomers, they do exist, you can think of vlad as one of them. calling him green was a stretch of course, but he has not yet develop a best system to protect his questionable chin then. it is developed now. his prime is now and you know that. no one yet came close to test him in his prime. i'm not saying no one eventually will but this is a very hard task to do.
Very well, I suppose we can meet in the middle on this one. As I stated before, Wlad improved his skills post-sanders, but I still think he was within the peramters of his prime, only not fully seasoned.
The NFL, NBA and MLB have been around for a hundred years. Why all of a sudden do you think our Heavyweights have just discovered these sports now? The average career in the NFL lasts 2 years. Please tell us which NBA or MLB player would have been HW Champ???? Do you think Joe Frazier would have been a great NFL, NBA or MLB player? Neither do I. I do agree that fans outside of the USA are intent at "crushing" us no matter what the sport.
Don't try to rationalise away your ignorance. I'm sure you could get away with your "generalisations" in a Kansas City bar, but the audience here on ESB is a little more nationally diverse than you might want it to be... :rasta
