What? Seriously? Jesus Christ, I thought they were lowering the bar when they let Ken Norton in. This is the baseball HOF's equivalent of inducting Kevin Mitchell. Nonetheless, he will be inducted tomorrow. What do you think? Does he deserve it?
yes, i think he deserves it. his two reigns were fantastic and he was thoroughly dominant for most of his career. you can pick apart some of his wins but he took on a very diverse group of solid and very good opponents winning in a methodical or explosive matter, showing underrated versatility
Hmmm.......I know several of his opponents, but perhaps I'm missing some; what's his dance card like?
well, it's pretty decent with some addendums needed 1.Prime Judah (who was actually favoured) 2. Shot Chavez 3. Sharmba Mitchell x2 (don't laugh, mitchell was a force in those days) 4. Old Livingstone Bramble 5. Gonzalez (solid if unspectacular) 6. Tackie (tough as **** and forced KT to MOVE) and then there's a list of top 10 and contender level guys like leija (past prime), Urkal, Hurtado and Ruelas
...............Okay, well I knew all of those. Christ......THAT kind of thing gets you in the hall now? Ouch.
haha, he was the best 140 pounder for at least 5 years and the better part of a decade. i think it's his consistency that gets him in
I don't think the Russian was ever really a truly great fighter at any stage of his career 'just' a very good one, but there are already a number of more eyebrow raising inductions. Plus the guys with the say on things seem to favour any fighter- regardless of talent -with a lengthy title run against mostly B and C level fighters. All the better if you lose to a few and then have TWO or even THREE title runs. Guys with more losses, small title runs, or generally more fragmented careers tend to get the shaft.Even if they were significantly talented and part of a deep era to make up for this.
He most definitely does deserve to be there and more so than quite a few who are already in the hall of fame.
Totally deserving. I can think of many others who don't have the resume above... including Salvador Sanchez.
Please. Sanchez's resume pisses all over Tszyu's. What it lacks in length it more than makes up for in quality. Lopez I, Lopez II, Gomez, Castillo, Nelson, LaPorte = all better than anything on Tszyu's res. Then when you add in Cowdell, Ford, Garcia, etc, this isn't even remotely close in any way. I actually can't believe you even said this. Are you serious? :huh
They've never been consistent with who they've inducted in the past,so I'm not sure where I stand on his induction. He had a very good career,no doubt. But in all honesty, his resume isn't any better than Naseem hamed's,who,in all likelyhood, will never be inducted.
