Seriously... I thought Sergey was popping that jab VERY well and was winning the majority of the rounds. Yes Ward landed some crisp body shots but the ones that had the most effect were the low ones. You can see it man! Rewatch it.

Honestly I felt both fighters were better.

I haven't compared punch stats to the first fight but it feels to me that this fight was at a higher tempo than the last. They were both more willing to exchange.

Kovalev was to me much improved in that he fought with success on the inside and dominated at range. His stamina was unquestionably better and he was a hive of activity. I can't see how anybody could really have had Ward up going into the 8th.

Ward on the other hand took a fair pummelling but was at no stage out of the fight and he seemed as strong in the 8th as he'd been in the 1st whereas Kovalev had noticably slowed down. Ward also impressed me with his much - improved punching power. He's aways been regarded as a bit of a featherfist but it seems to me he was punching with more authority than I've ever seen him, in the rematch.

BCS8 and Caper... Ward was as strong in the 8th as he was in the first... Improved punching power all the sudden through ONE camp at age 33... Back acne spotted... VADA bull**** like Jacobs pulled before GGG... Ward was Team Jacobs also... Come on now. Lol!! Kinda suspect or no?

I don't know... it's tuff I've rewatched several times and I can't see how some of those marginal distances on the belt line can warrant a complete disregard for the overall work and drastic shift of momentum in favor of Ward. It's just not working for me, I thought those could be considered legal although I thought the last two where quite low...still they really didn't land well because of Sergeys position nullified any real effect.

Well you have your opinion and I'll respect that. But keep in mind... the fight ended on THIS shot. Look at Sergey's reaction.

I mentioned it before I hated the stoppage and it certainly was controversial. A fight of this caliber should never end with gray areas, this isn't manfredo vs Calzaghe....these two are legit P4p talents.

I feel like the last couple of weeks of us cursing eacother out was all done in vain :(

Possibly suspect, yeah. But if he's VADA enrolled and passed the tests then I for one feel he's clean. Or, at least, I have no proof he's on the sauce and neither does anybody else.

To give Ward his due, he was fighting a strategic fight whereas Kovalev was fighting a tactical fight.

That is to say, Ward was conserving his energy for the stretch while Sergei was trying to win every round regardless of the cost in the late rounds. It seemed as though Ward's strategy was starting to pay off in the 8th. That said, Kovalev got his 2nd wind in the 10th in the previous fight and did pretty well in the last three in that one. It would have been very interesting to see if the pattern repeated itself.

    Weeks is a crap referee.

To Weeks credit he did work the Castillo / Deigo C fight to perfection I still get goose bumps.

Yeah that was just a crap ending. But 175 is STACKED and I'd bet money Low blows will be dealt with harshly after this! Sergey will be back.

Hahaha! Hey it happens on here from time to time :D No hard feelings

I have paid for my last PPV boxing match. How the hell does the fight get stopped on low blows? A white Russian fighter will never get fair treatment in the USA just like Americans get screwed in Europe. First off Kovalev is overrated big time. I mean come on Ward's punching power is **** and he cannot hurt Kovalev. Kovalev fought like he was there for a paycheck only. Kovalev looked like **** in this fight knowing he had to have a stoppage to win. When Ward hit him low he should have hit him low back. Based on what I seen Both Ward and Kovalev are over rated. As far as Ward going to Cruiserweight and Heavyweight he is out of him mind. Ward's punching power sucks. I will never pay for a fight again. Kovalev and protest all he wants he did not do a damn thing during the fight. Kovalev is way Over rated and he is easy to best. Not sure when he ffights again but Ward and Kovalev are not PPV level fighters Both fighters suck. Let Ward go the Heavyweight with his weak ass punching power. Ward vs. Kovalev should have been on HBO or Showtime live. Watching this fight was a waste of time. Kovalev is just overrated and that is all there is to it.

Never any hard feelings, we have some pretty distinct differences on how we view fights and boxers but this place would be a j$rk off fest if we all thought the same. Lmao

I thought it was a good fight. Maybe a very good fight. The ref just had to do his job.

I had Kovalev winning 5-2 and it looked like a repeat of the first fight. But Ward resorted to low blows, knowing that JayZ had the ref in his pocket.
