The Champion and bigger draw saw less money and was on the wrong end of a controversial decision. He get's no guaranteed purse in the rematch and was on the wrong end of a controversial stoppage. It's obvious something very wrong was happening behind the scenes and Duva doesn't have the connections or know how to see to her fighter's best interests.

Truly an atrocious promoter. She has no clue how to market fighters,
Jackson is an excellent trainer but there's grumblings that Kovalev
is a guy that doesn't wanna listen, no trainer will be able to help him

Good decision. I think he might join Lomachenko's camp.

How exactly? She was savvy enough to rob Fury of his belt and if it wasn't for a bit of bad luck it would have been her guy getting that 6 million pound pay day against Joshua.

Kovalev is still one of the biggest attractions in boxing. I don't know what marketability issue you're talking about.

Whats Top Rank going to do for him? Postal hasn't been seen since his loss his Crawford. And Crawford is on the cusp of being the first undisputed Champ in over 15 years and nobody has a clue who he is. He can't even sell more than 50 thousand PPV buys. Where's his marketability ?

Ward having a mogul looking over him who wants to over pay him by millions doesn't mean Duva is an ' atrocious promoter' . This is a guy who has is own brand of merchandise ffs. Yet she can't market a fighter?

This is less than a rumour. It's fabricated only in youtubeland, and this thread is garbage misinformation. Anyone who takes this seriously for a second is a moron, and we have two pages of you talking about this, come on. How about not bringing something up unless the source is the boxer himself, or his manager, promoter, or trainer?

To refute this, just check out the article on BScene from the 19th about Kovalev's next move, the same day these youtubers announced Kovalev was leaving Main Events: Duva states that “The plan was for him to come back in November, win or lose [against Andre Ward]. There was never a question. He still has a contract with HBO.” He's not leaving Main Events, and despite his apparent training issues I'm not going to believe he's leaving JDJ till, you know, we hear it from a reliable source.

My post is only my frustration that social media gossip is referred to as a source, by the way. It's not to stick up for Kovalev, and I damn well don't want pats on the back from the Ward haters.

**** no!! I'm may not be a fan of the "other side" but I would not send him to that self worshipping narcissist at all.
I can see the conference's now, Floyd: "When, when, I was fighting you could drink vodka in the corner. Look at me and what I did, when I beat Oscar, at the end of the day, me, me, me, I,I,I." 1 hour later he'll say, "It's not about me though,it's about Kovalev today."

If anyone were truly a Kovalev fan - I enjoy watching him fight but no more than that - then they have to have been calling out Duva from the start because she did a terrible job promoting him, cost him a lot of money and potentially stole from him. There's no defence of her as a promoter much in the same way there is no defence that can be made of Fat Mick in the UK.

The only defense I've seen of Duva was the Stevenson situation. Not so much in defense of Duva but rather Kovalev wanted the fight and they tried to make it. Stevenson clearly ducked Kovalev.... as well Pascal and Hopkins.

Probably BS but Lomachenkos camp would be a good move, I know they are friends. Kovalev clearly has the talent but he's getting on now and if he wants to press the reset button make sure he presses it right. Clock is ticking...

Well, news is just in that he really did fire his trainer. Did you see the smile on his trainer's face when he was being interviewed after the fight spoke about how Kov had lost? Now you would really have to be dumb to keep a trainer who smiles because you lost in your camp. Apparently Kov hasn't descended to that level of stupidity yet.

I think it's the right move to fire his trainer since his trainer betrayed him, but I don't see what his promoter did wrong.
