some of the excuses the last month or two have been rather ridiculous. Ruiz yesterday with the I was overweight and not in shape. I get that, but why say it if you were given time..
Canelo might be smart taking on an aging and uninspired Kovalev but all the fans will remember is that Canelo beat an older fighter who didn't want to fight
He should not be given a title shot until he earns it. I am not sure why he came out and said it so calmly. "I didn't prepare like I should have and I gained too much weight but I don't want to give excuses. "
I said it in another tread he goes to the back of the line bummer but he should have taken it seriously
I agree. It makes me upset because he admitted right out there not even thinking about the people who go to the fight. I think Joshua would have won anyway no matter what, but to announce he was overweight and not in shape for the most part. And then ask for a third fight. He cannot be depended on to be in shape again. Not really.
of course it wasnt a dive, but now watch Canelo run to CW to avoid the rematch where he gets brutally koed.
I totally agree with this. He disrespected the sport of boxing and the fans. By not coming in ready to fight, he let down the fans that paid to watch that fight. He let down everyone involved in the event. If he would of came to the fight in shape and fought a better fight, he would probably be up for the third fight. The way he conducted himself he is going to have to go back to the gym, get a win or two against other contenders and show he still is willing to do what needs to be done to be champ.
That is not a dive. Someone offer you life changing money to take a fight, you take it , hopping you can catch lightning in a bottle. He was paid to box. As long as he went in there trying to win (trying doesn't mean you will win). Mismatch fights happens all the time. Look at the record of any top 10 boxers and they are all littered with guys that have zero chance of beating them.
