It wasnt my bet. It was a bet he made with another poster and I think you may be correct that he wont honour the bet. He seems uncomfy when asked about it
Its clear there is no competition for GGG at MW so why shouldn't he want to fight the top SMW for the prize? Are you saying Ward is too much of a challenge for him. GGG said he'd fight all from 160 to 168, but he now only calls out Cotto who he would destroy easily
Im not saying anything about challenges. Im picking you up on your double standards and with that comment obviously feel Kovalev is too much of a challenge for Ward. Once again, read what was written - This content is protected Jnr is not the top SMW. You are saying Ward shouldnt fight the top man in the division above, in his first fight at the above weight, but Golovkin should because he was supposedly agreeing to face a former MW at SMW. Double Standards Dino atsch Anyway are you going to honour your bet if it happens? Why are you ducking the questions with regards to your bet you entered into
Well it'd been his first fight at the weight against a lesser opponent than Ward. So it'd be an introduction to 168. I think it'd be totally legit if Ward to a fight against a well ranked fighter not Kovalev or Stevenson at 175 to settle in before taking on the big boys in the division. Savvy?
If Dino the Duck won't honor his bet with me today. We will honor it for him. Nobody give this piece of **** the time of day. He is on the record several times over telling me Wlad would never fight Pulev. I was right, he was wrong. I don't care if Wlad wins or loses, the fight is happening, Dino is done. Ignore him from this point forward. If this queen wants attention, he get it from another board.
I would venture to say there are zero pure light heavies that are household names that didn't move up to Heavyweight at some point. Roy was probably closest in recent memory, but he also weight jumped to get there and still went up for the Ruiz fight. When it was the original 8 weight classes, Light Heavyweight was held in a similar light that Cruiserweight is today- if you were that good at the division just beneath it, you were expected to move up to Heavyweight because of the prestige and money.
Kovalev-Ward is a great fight....but not straight back from the layoff. Andre's got to do what he doesn't want to- fight a fringe contender or two at the 175 for less guaranteed money than he usually demands for the sake of making the fights happen. He's got to get some career momentum back and shake the rust off. Going straight into a fight with Kovalev is a recipe for disaster. I respect Ward's in ring abilities and want to see him at his best if that fight comes off.
This is how I see it. They're not double standards as such. GGG is active and he's at the top of his game. He's actually mentioned Ward's name. Nobody has put pressure in him to fight Ward. It's of his own doing. So if he wants the fight, let him move up and fight him. But everyone's circumstances are different. Even though GGG moving up to fight Ward, would be the same as Ward moving up to fight Kov, the circumstances are completely different. Because Ward hasn't called out Kov. He's also been out of the ring for a year, and he's only fought just twice in a three year period. So at this time, asking Ward to go up and fight Kov, is a bigger ask than GGG moving up to fight Ward. So due to the circumstances, it's not really double standards. I suspect that GGG's fans would like to see a Ward fight. Whereas, although Ward's fans would like to see him fight Kov, they don't want to see at this moment in time, due to the ring rust.
Cheers, great posts as well :cheers And hey...even if he doesn't fight Kovalev, I won't hold it against him. There's nothing wrong with dominating one class- Andre just needs to get back in the ring. It's pretty wild that it's already been 3 years since the Super Six ended.
