While I'm doing my hype threads for prospects I like, I'm not sure if you remember a couple of months ago I did The Cult of Overhypers thread, I can't stand it when people go crazy over a decent win and automatically have the guy beating everyone in his division, so I refuse to be a hypocrite even when its one of my guys.
Kovalev would have probably gotten Cloud out just as quickly and Adonis could have too if he wasn't so cautious.

Not even that they could do what Beterbiev did, but that people will rate Beterviev's win as better than Adonis' win over the same man an entire year earlier, where Cloud did nothing afterward to regain footing as a legit contender of sorts.

Most everybody, by way of their own scorecard, has Cloud losing his last 4 fights (Campillo, Hopkins, Adonis, and now Beterbiev) over the past, what, 3 years now. Clearly, Beterbiev deserves the least credit among those (unless you scored the Campillo fight for Cloud, I guess... it's not as though Hopkins or Adonis struggled with Cloud in the slightest).

But people will praise Beterbiev for the victory in ways that Adonis couldn't dream of being praised by the same people despite a more impressive victory (whole year+ prior) over the same guy. Would love some consistency here. Or if you're going to be inconsistent, note it (not "you" as in YOU... but in general).

It was a joke about how so-called sparring matches or amateur fights don't mean anything in the pros. Mayweather sparred Spadafora many years ago and Spadafora did quite well against him.

I gave Campillo the fight as well, check my Beterbiev Kovalev thread I wrote lst night for my thoughts http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=518399
Beterbiev is very impressive I've been a fan for a while, but Cloud is a shell of his former self which wasn't that amazing either.

Not exactly irrelevant, considering that Kovalev has tasted canvas in the pros quite recently!:yep

I'm pretty sure Caparello is still eating through a straw from that bodyshot.

I figured that's what you were saying.

Anytime I hear sparring stories being taken too seriously, I just remind people that Calderon 120-108 Oscar and Mosley and that Duran KO Donkey.

Any further thoughts on this after Kov's massive outboxing of the old fox?

Beterbiev deserves more time to showcase what he's about. I believe that by the time he's had more pro fights, this topic will surely come up again. :bbb

Light Heavy is going to be very, very interesting for the next few years. Remember the saying "Styles make fights" and how true it is. Beterbiev is capable of giving Kovalev (who will be a dominant champion) a serious challenge. You will see if they ever meet in a professional ring.
