You do realize Kovalevs best win is an even older Bhop almost 50 and at least Kovalev was prime while he fought him.
Kovalev dominated Hopkins in every round and dropped him, while Calzaghe did not and was dropped by Hopkins. Pascal is still rated as a top 4 LHW, and Kovalev was the first to KO him. Regardless in what I think of Calzaghe, Kovalev would give him huge problems based on the skills set he's displayed in the ring. Many agree with me. BTW why are you yelling?
Pascal is a warrior but the last time he has beat a top 15 fighter was 4-5 years ago. He put on a good show but I think he is now being overrated. He also has losses to A limited Froch and old Bhop. Albeit not as old as when Kobalev fought him. Kovalev is dangerous because of his power and way he beat Pascal makes it a good win though.
I love how on this thread, a lot are picking Calzaghe to get stopped, but on the Jones threads, Kovalev is too slow and Jones would win a unanimous decision. So I guess Calzaghe is no where near as fast as Jones that he can't get away from Kovalev? Or that Calzaghe takes less of a punch than Jones? Or is it that maybe a bunch of folks here are biased?
Calzaghe fought Bhop 7 years before Kovalev. Calzaghe was also faded whilst Kovalev was in his prime. Being rated still in the top 5 after not beating a top 15 fighter in 4-5 or fighting one in 3 years should say something. You can't yell when you type but you can point out more impertinent facts with caps plus it's an iPad and I have big hands it isn't easy. Prime Calzaghe didn't fight a 50 yr old Kovalev did. Calzaghe also fought him in his first fight at a bigger division. Yet all these facts allude you.
he was something else, RRJ's prime was over as soon as he move up to heavy, or moved back down I should say, lol,
Yea but the forum is here for debate . I think that a prime RJJ would have a good chance of beating anyone in that range also. When you talk RJJ vs Kovalev you don't grade RJJ on how he looked against Tarver though? He was faded and still got the job done in the first fight. You want prime RJJ vs Kovalev. Both Calzaghe and Bhop were faded when they fought and Calzaghe moved up a division also to fight the lineal champ. 7 years later prime Kovalev best a even older Bhop I his weight division. Why are you so biased against Calzaghe and insinuate he is a bum who has done nothing but rate the Kovalev-Bhop win. He beat Bhop better yes Bhop was 50 and Kovalev was prime.
Calzaghe beat a much better hopkins. Hopkins of the calzaghe fight would have won a UD vs Kovalev Calzaghe is a ATG a overall better fighter than Kovalev
For me it was the fact that Pascal has an iron chin, and was completely knocked senseless. Kovalev also took some heavy shots to land his... He answered questions for me last night, he is relentless and almost seems a bit sinister. Calzaghe would hit Kovalev plenty, but it would only be a matter of time before Kovalev puts him out.
Regardless of how old he was, BHop was still competing a a high level. Calzaghe was only 4(36) years older than Kovalev at the time he barely beat Hopkins. Hopkins was great win for Kovalev as he dominated him from round 1-12. Pascal beat Bute who only lost to Froch, and is still in his prime. I'm saying Kovalev who a bigger, stronger fighter with solid foot movement and in his prime can beat a Calzaghe.
He couldn't put out a stationary Bhop at 50. I think Joe woulda fought wary picked his spot to to flurry and use his movement to take Kovalev out of his game. Pascal has a good chin but isn't on the level of Prime Calzaghe or Prime RJJ. The Pascal that fought Kovalev didn't have good stamina in his prime and he was faded. He hadn't beaten a top 15 fighter in 4-5 years. Nor has he ever been a great fighter and has losses to a 46 year old Hopkins and A limited Froch albeit a Prime Froch.
Jeez... anyone huh? F*ck spinks, monzon, benn, mcclellan, foster, patterson, charles, robinson, monzon, hagler, and anyone else huh?
