Did anybody actually read the link Kovalev proposed the idea of a catch-weight , not Canelo. He obviously thinks Canelo might not be too keen on the fight anymore and is probably trying to entice him with a catchweight offer. Canelo never demanded any catchweight for this fight. If he takes the risk it will be at the full 175. Most of this forum suffers from chronic Canelo derangement syndrome. This content is protected
I don't like catchweight full stop. There may have been a place for them back when we had 8 weight classes but now? They're pretty much solely used to load the deck in the favour of the money fighter.
Kovalevs career is nearly over, he deserves to grab some cash on his way out. Let's not forget he made nearly nothing against ward. He isnt THAT wealthy
GBP already sent Duva an 8 figure offer with no catchweight stipulated prior to the Yarde fight, why would anything have changed?
Nope, so picking on smaller fighters especially two divisions lower is cool?? Brook almost lost his eye dumb*****
Kovalev's team are talking about potential catchweights. If Canelo nuts up and fights even this version Kovalev at 175 with no silly rehydration clause then great but he has past form for loading the deck.
I don't see Canelo beating Kov. Kov is too big and he's good too. He's clearly past it but still too much for Canelo.
Nobody was dragging Brook to do anything. He jumped in and offered to sign the contract that Eubank refused to sign.
You mean how Canelo dragged up glass chinned Khan? At least we can say that Brook was HEAVIER than Golovkin at the weigh in
Why would there be a catchweight for a title. It is for the title at 175 it should be at that weight, otherwise what is the accomplishment Back to Leonard/Lalonde. To me they don't win the title with a catchweight. I say to Kovalev's people. Don't do it. Kovalev is already in decline, why give Canelo the advantage. The intrigue is Kovalev's natural size advantage and can Canelo break him down to win the title. Without that size advantage, what is the mystery or challenge?
