Hellboy has rocked or stopped a number of fighters with solid chin: Peter, Brewster, Chisora, Whyte, Teper, now Kownacki. He's always been extremely heavy handed.

He might have well stopped Chisora in the early rounds if he didn't injure himself stunning him.

Why do you have to take it so far as to say "extremely heavy handed" that's a bit of an overstatement. He is heavy handed, big guy with boxing skill.

He rocked Whyte with a well timed straight cross going downwards into Whyte's chin catching him offguard, that's a lot of force from a 6 foot 7 guy like Helenius... and Whyte was dazed.

Helenius Hits hard enough that this could happen to a Heavyweight with a decent chin but his defense is so poor that his chin would have to be better than decent to be a top 10 HW.

This wouldn't have happened to Tyson even if he got caught just as flush.
Frazier might have gone down but he wouldn't have been stopped.
Can't see this happening to Marciano or Dempsey either.

Nor to Tua or ray mercer.

Kownacki is not an elite pressure fighter

Possibly. Chisora definitely felt the weight of his shots those first few rounds. Helenius really messed himself up that night though. Literally a career defining fight, and not in a good way.

No it's not an overstatement. I'll take it a step further and say that Helenius at one point was a bigger puncher than Wlad. They fought two common opponents in Peter and Brewster and Helenius stopped them more emphatically (knocked out Peter with one punch; Wlad took multiple shots to stop him--dropping Brewster where Wlad could only make him retire on his stool). He was an extremely heavy handed puncher. Even now he's heavy handed enough to take out tough guys like Kownacki, which says something as to how powerful he was in his prime.

Yes, I'd say so. Martin took out Washington with one shot but was unable to stop Kownacki with multiple shots in twelve rounds. Helenius stopped him in four.

Sometimes it's just the way things go. Why couldn't Whyte stop Helenius?

Whyte clearly struggles with landing and delivery against tall rangy guys like helenius

Im just saying if you gonna classify helenius as ‘extremely heavy handed’ then what about the tysons and wilders... ‘super duper uber heavy handed,
    ‘? lol

Ya gotta put Kownacki on the questionable list at this point. He was done after that first shot that put him on the canvas, which was so innocuous the ref didn't even notice it!

Doesn't matter how good your chin is if you use it as your first line of defense (and last).

Big guys hit hard and will crack any chin if they get a free go..

Will be interesting to see if the Polish Sausage chan develope some defense given he got a reality check..

Say what you want about Kownacki but his chin is ****ing Iron. After he got back up, he took 10-15 massive shots an didnt go down

Occasionally they do, Duran came back from the KO to Hearns and took everything a big hitting middleweight Barkley could throw.

I thought Kownacki got dazed earlier in the fight and he may never really have shook that off, as you say the ref didn't even think it was a knock down
