Heap dirt on Lacy and you're heaping dirt on Calzaghe. If he was never that good then the best you can say is Calzaghe beat an overrated bum. A bum which I would add fooled not just the American boxing public but based on British oddsmakers fooled quite a bit of the boxing public in Great Britain as well.
Lacy was never that great. I picked Calzaghe to beat Lacy but not in that manner. For defying the odds and putting on such a performance, Joe gets very good credit for that win. As a name its not that great, as a victory it is.
LMAO at Chhim or whatever his name was referring to Calzaghe as "the Englishman". Frightening how some of these U.S. writers get the gigs when their knowledge of the sport does not extend to the most basic of facts! I can take pride in the fact I picked Joe to win, but not that easily I have to admit.
Neither did the Brits of which Lacy was the favored to win according to the sports books in the UK :good
I thought Lacy was just a hype job prior to the Calzaghe fight (which has turned out to be true) but I never expected Calzaghe to win in the manner he did. I'm not Calzaghe's biggest fan but you have to give credit where its due.
no hate Calzaghe fans, but.......Lacy was never a "GOOD" fighter, he had a good punch and he was tough with big mucsles, that was it but regardless, that win made me a fan of his, you can say Lacy was a bum, but you can't ever say Calz swag wasn't on 100 that night
It's also making everyone laugh at you, it's like a kid who got a present for the first time in his LIFE. Always bringing up, okay we know you guys had one major victory and we know you will celebrate it for life because there isn't much to celebrate anyway. You might as well thank Lacy for making it happen because if you were depending on Joe Calzaghe to make a fight then you would have waited to see him against Pudwill and maybe even Frank Warren.
We in the UK know Americans are the greatest at everything...........cos you keep telling everyone that. Oh, say! can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed ..............................................
