Wlad is hovering around top 10 all time in my opinion. I actually already have Wlad in my top 10, and a big win over Povetkin will mean Wlad has completely cleaned out the heavyweight division of the last 5 years..and propel him into my top 7 all time.

I dont really see Povetkin as being much of a measuring stick. There is a reason why that guy has been so protected and waited so long to take his shot. Hes been offered a chance at the title for 5 or 6 years now and declined and now hes 34. I cant think of another fighter who avoided going after the title while in his prime for 5 or 6 years only to finally take the leap when hes 34.

I think it's debatable that he cleared it out, given that he didn't meet fellow champions Vitali and Valuev. You could also add Maskaev and even Dimitrenko if you were feeling really naughty (he was ranked top 5 in the past five years).

I think he's top 10 material anyway though, I wouldn't object to seeing him in there.

I think something very shady might happen in Moscow.

    He's too big. Like Pacquiao.

He cleaned out the division? When did he beat Helenius,Boytzov, and Pulev? Povetkin is a fat, 34 years old club fighter , who possesses neither great boxing ability, nor punch. Wlad had not fought a rated contender in his last four defences.

1)Pulev's getting his due in 2014.

2)The other guys are less accomplished than Povetkin whether you like it or not.

3)A number of rated contenders are content to wait like vultures rather than get abused by the current version Wlad. I didn't think I'd see the day where contenders are happy not to fight the champion, but that's how dominant Wlad is. Everybody wants to wait until they're "ready", and Wlad's gotta fight someone in the meantime.

Wlad cleaned out a division, and ducks no one.

Ibragimov, Haye, and Chagaev are greater than Helenius, Boystov, and Pulev.

Povetkin a club fighter? Silly comments to discredit a fighter should be called out as such. No--Povetkin is not a club fighter. He is a multiple gold medal winner as an amatuer and has a much better resume that Pulev, Boystov, or Helenius.

Povetkin's record is average, he has no outstanding talent in any area, be it boxing or punching.Amatuer is NOT pro, Audley Harrison won the Olympic Gold, look how he turned out.

Maybe one of the reasons no one is in a rush to fight Wlad is because they have to sign a contract with K2 promotions giving them 2 options, and discretion about whom they defend against should they win?.

Thats been going on forty years at least, probably longer. Big deal. A guy thinks he can beat the champion then he fights him. If you spend years as a top fighter and refuse several title shots its a safe bet you know you cant win. I dont think thats because Wlad is SO DOMINANT, the guys been knocked out three times for christsakes, its because his challengers are mediocre at best and know it. This is nothing against Wlad per se. I give him credit and think hes a good fighter but hes certainly not unbeatable. Hes been dominant over the majority of his title fights but the competition in those fights is pretty sad. I agree with those that say its a weak era. I dont think Wlad and Vitali are weak. Quite the contrary, but their era is weak so them dominating it is not really that impressive to me.

True, but has a heavyweight ever truly dominated a STRONG era ?

The era is terrible imo, but Wlad has fought only three of the top ten challengers, so for Suzie Q to say he has cleaned out the division is not true.
