right now it would be 50/50, Lara's bigger, more athletic and has a purely defensive style which would be a nightmare for Floyd, Floyd is 40, slower reflexes and less athletic now. It would be battle of pot shots! id say the result ends up looking a bit like canelo v lara where the viewers were split on who actually won however the fight itself would be a seriously dull chess match, even prime for prime it could look that way. But to be clear there is no way anyone can say Lara is better or ever will be better then Floyd, that's just hating.
Right now I'd probably pick Lara. Floyd has been inactive, honestly I think he's smart and realizes that he's getting too old. P4p at their primes there's no contest, of course. Floyd is more skilled and leaves a far greater legacy.
And he knew he was getting too old when he picked Berto for his final opponent. It's this single fact which persuaded me to believe he won't be seen back boxing again. He knew he was declining and fulfilled his final contractual obligation to fight by picking a safe opponent... But prime Lara vs prime (or even 80-90% prime) Mayweather? Not even up for discussion as you rightly point out...
It would be the most boring fight of all time. It'd be interesting to see how Floyd deals with a fighter that can be very negative. Lara isn't anywhere near as good but because of the styles, he could pose a threat. But it's the same the other way around. Could be like when Diosbelys Hurtado was making Whittaker look bad before getting KO'd (Floyd isn't KOing Lara though).
I have to go with Floyd but Lara would have presented something to Mayweather that he wouldn't have ever seen before. I do know one thing............the fight would stink and make Floyd Pac look like Ward Gatti.
floyd couldn't beat lara to be honest, lara is better than anyone floyd's fought by a long way, more technical and too tricky for floyd, has power over floyd, is southpaw has a really long reach, is probably faster to, it's an absolute nightmare scenario for mayweather, he was also mandatory for 2 years to fight mayweather
