Lara won, or at least the fight was a draw....I had it 115-113 Lara, with Lara winning the 12th.... Effective aggression , ring generalship was Lara... Canelo threw a lot a missed a lot thanks to Lara's clever movement.... After the fight was over I expected Lara to win....yet reality creeped in an I said to my friends they ARE NOT GOINT TO LET CANELO SUFFER HIS 2nd Loss ...too much money at stake This was a money driven judge decision!!
I thought it was a close fight but scored it for Canelo. I was really disappointed with Lara. He looked fantastic for the first 3 rounds and I thought my £5 bet was on! He just seemed to shut down his offense almost completely and was content to dance around the ring for the rest of the fight. He's very good defensively; I can appreciate someones ring IQ and evasive abilities just as much as the next guy but he just wasn't winning the rounds! Whenever he did throw he seemed to score quite nicely so I was mythed why he opted to just stop throwing. It looked like it was HIS fight to lose, and he did.... This is a great victory for Canelo. He's got some real quality names on his record now and I think he's silenced the critics. Lara was just about the biggest threat/lowest reward fight out there for him so massive props to him for taking it and getting the win!
It was razor close and could have gone either way. I have no issue with the judges decision. Canelo did some fantastic body work though.
Not letting me vote but Lara. He at least deserved a draw. He won the first 3 clearly and ot would be a joke to say he didn't win at least 3 more rounds than that.
DRAW. Lara was imposing his style way more making canelo miss and pot shotting back BUT didnt throw much than e needed to over the popular canelo. lara had to know he wasnt going to win a close decision if it went all twelve rnds. he played it too safe. and for canelo he didnt land only but a few times. the stats show lara landing more than canole after the fight but canelo was throwing a bit more. DRAW no way 8-4 canelo. if anothing lara edged out the split imo. good fight lara shouldve been more active with his punches.
When Lara utilized his spacing and took proper advantage of his reach, he could and did tee off on Canelo with quick snappy combinations. Though Canelo walked through Lara's best punches and did work with those great body punches that landed. Those body shots and Canelo not being fazed by his shots, I think Lara lost his heart a bit. He ran so much his reach advantage was negated almost entirely, hell even when the ref would break them up he would start running right away. If he stayed at his perfect range he could've won more rounds that I had down as even for both, but Canelo's body shots put Lara on the run. Canelo won clearly.
Algieri was landing ALOT off the back foot, Lara wasn't throwing anywhere near as much as algieri, canelo also landed a lot more to the body than provodnikov. Just because 2 fights were fought in kind of a similar manner doesn't mean they automatically have the same result, fights re scored round by round, although I doubt you knew that...
