I dont think even Holmes believes half the **** that leaves his mouth, its ironic that the writer states that Holmes has the feel of a man that was at peace with himself. I'd say the interview reeks of a man who is bitter with anyone he sees as a threat and jealous of anyone who is either held in higher esteem or was just outright better than he was, the former being Tyson and the latter being Lewis. What a tremendously bitter old fool he is.

I like Larry, aand I don't doubt a word of what you say. Despite how he can come across sometimes, I respect that he'll stand by what he says, and doesn't mince his words. :good

Foreman would do a number on him.

Liston would've had a very good shot.

    Dempsey specialized in street fighting.

Marciano was known to be a superb street fighter.

Tyson is hardly the only heavyweight champ who was a good street fighter, and there are fighters who had the needed advantages to beat him in the streets.

Foreman actually got $1 million and Holmes something like $400,000 for simply signing the contract.

I personally think Foreman didn't want to fight a circus type of fight, you know, two old guys fighting each other. It wasn't until 1999 that Foreman finally agreed. But it was the promoters who should be blamed for the fight not happening, not George.
And I think Larry was so damn jealous of George that he wanted to beat him just so that he could say "I beat George Foreman!"

Foreman, although an utter phony, was beloved and revered; Holmes, for the most part, was not. That seemed to **** Larry off. George had all the endorsements, the grill, the tv show, etc., and Larry, a great fighter, had none of that.

I respect Larry for being real and honest, but his disdain for Foreman was/is strange. George is just one fighter. Larry has his own life, his own achievements, his own wealth -- what's with the George fixation?

And tooo bad Holmes didn't call out Greg Page and Pinklon Thomas with the same fervor with which he called out Foreman.
