Both 'men' never said they were The Greatest, just good heavyweights.

But, if somebody destroys 'The Greatest, should they not be labeled as
    'Greater than the Greatest'.

Larry Holmes, 'Greater than the Greatest'............:deal

    OK,

    How about this,

Larry Holmes never lost a bout in his 'prime years'.

Muhammad Ali lost 'two', plus had several controversial wins.

    Is that a 'fair statement'.

Sure its fair, but as far as Primes go, I believe Ali had MUCH more difficult opponents than Holmes did, just stiffer competition..

I have him at three. He's not likely moving within my lifetime either. :deal Probably my second-favourite heavy, after Joe Frazier.

 Man among men, you, Pep. Man a among men.

When was Ali's prime? After he returned to boxing after being inactive for 4 straight years?

Why wasn't Holmes able to unify all of the belts and become the undisputed champion? Did he really beat 'Spoon? He lost 2 in a row to a LHW Michael Spinks.

    Who was his best win?

    Larry Holmes 'best win'.

Would have to be over 'The Greatest',,,,

If Muhammad Ali claims he was The Greatest', and gets humiliated by a humble man.

Then, the humble man is 'Greater than the Greatest'.

Muhammad Ali can be 'The Greatest' but 'not' Greater than Larry Holmes.

Nobody beat more heavyweight contenders sans Ali and Louis, though people will make what they will of the era's quality and Holmes' choosing of some of them.

Top 5 for sure, maybe even top 3, but greatest of all time? nope.
