Yea that right hand right down the pipe would be a natural shot for Larry. I see him finding the mark with that punch from round 1. Then he beats Sanders on the golf course after.
Not too many stand up boxers are gonna see the light of day vs Lawrence. Like maybe a Lewis, maybe and Ali probably. The lefthanded thing might work against Sanders here based on Holmes strengths
Ha Ha. Don King sent Greg Page to South Africa and he iced Coetzee around the time frame you claim Holmes ducked Gerry Goetzee was a good fighter but failed three times when South African promoters threw big bucks at American hwys Tate, Weaver and Page, all of whom were recognized as being below Holmes in the Hvy pecking order. Coetzee did beat a coked out underachieving Dokes ironically in Dokes back yard
i don’t give a damn about Greg page dumbass we are talking about Holmes I have the 80’s boxing magazines that prove it, there is articles talking about Holmes fighting Coetzee and it never happened cause Holmes ducked him. Coetzee won a title and would have been a much better contender for Holmes title instead of bums like Steve Frank or David Bey and many other bums Holmes didn’t duck
Why are you bringing up Mike Tyson ? It's a good win for Tyson because even though Holmes was WELL past it and retired he showed that he was still decent by beating Mercer and giving Holyfield and Mccall competitive fights after getting knocked out by Tyson himself. But Larry Holmes vs Corrie Sanders is a prime vs prime match up so no, that common opponent is not relevant to the discussion because that was a grandfather Holmes
If Rahman could dig deep and stop him then I'm pretty sure Holmes who is a couple of levels better than Rahman on his best day would be able to as well.
You have a problem here. That problem is these two statements. and Let's narrow it down: You need to pick which line of thought you are running with here.
There is no problem. You don't understand my point. Holmes wasn't a shot fighter in is late 30s and his 40s but at that point he was well over the hill, well past his peak. Nowhere near his younger self from the early 80s. This is a prime for prime hypothetical match up, so there is no point in using a middle aged Holmes in this discussion
People are using the Rahman version of Sanders in the discussion, a fight where he'd had an abysmal camp due to knee problems. I see no problem for mentioning a common opponent and presenting the matchups for consideration. We all know Holmes wasn't prime, but it doesn't make the comparison worthless.
Spot on here I think Mr M. Sanders wouldn't be the worst guy that Holmes beat, he'd be potentially dangerous, but he ain't beating Larry. Holmes by Ko 9
