Good points. I'd add Pierre Coetzer who took his lumps in a previous loss to Bowe. Tough guy, Coetzer, and Bruno beat him just as commanding as Bowe did, in my opinion.

It's worth nothing that both Bowe and Bruno had to use dirty tactics to stop Coetzer, which says a lot about his toughness.

Holmes eventually stops him, encountering some rocky moments along the way.

    Thanks.
Since joining the forum , I've tried to post as I saw things ' in real time' . So much gets distorted I guess with the passing of time.
I was absorbed by boxing in my younger days and was a huge fan from the 70's through to around the turn of the century.
It hasn't held my interest since then , hence my interest in this section of this forum. It's bringing back lots of memories.

I’m sort of the same way . I started later than you but my stint following boxing earnestly was from about the mid eighties to the late nineties. Today I follow it casually

    Same here .
I'm not sure what changed for me .
It seems to be human nature to think ' things were better in our day ' so that's part of it , add to that the loss of terrestrial TV coverage , split titles , all and sundry getting ' title shots' lesser fighters being overhyped , things becoming ' PC' , led to my interest waning.
I could tell you far more about the boxing scene in the 80's than I could now , LOL

I agree with your take. It might get awkward in places but in the final washup Bruno lacks the intangibles to take advantage of a slipping Holmes.

Well the best thing for Frank would have been to fight in his backyard. Then he can give a good account of himself before losing.
But the guy being the road warrior in this would have been Bruno. Larry was not a guy that went into the lions den to get the W. And especially against a Bruno---make Frank the guy to take his act on the road.

I think Frank would have gave a real good account of himself at Wembley at that time. But Larry would have dug deep to eventually get the win. A good compeitive bout while it lasted.

Frank had a good heavy jab himself and a fine right hand. He's no pushover.

1984 Larry might have a real hard time with an in-shape Bruno who is strong and can keep up a steady workrate. I realize the majority of posters have a grossly inflated view of Larry as some ATG, "Top 3" Heavyweight (SMH) but he had loads of trouble with a raw Witherspoon the year before and got his ears boxed off by Carl Williams the year after. Unless Larry got an unusual one-punch shot in and a surprise stoppage, which could happen, I think he gets really, really pushed.
