Larry Holmes vs Lennox Lewis prime 4 prime?

Holmes by decision hands down. Even if Lewis could knock him down, his recuperative powers were amazing! Watch the Shavers knockdown, it tells all.

 

I like Larry. I think Holmes had the best jab ever in the heavies. He was fast, shot a good right hand and uppercut. Had a ton of ring savvy, and had the necessary edge to his demeanor. He`d bring that in with him, find some way to say that Lewis dissed him. And boxing at a safe distance, give him a clinic. I like Lewis, he was a helluva champion(sometimes very underated) But, Larry Holmes may be the MOST underated heavy in history... I just don`t see Larry holding still long to let Lewis get his right hand off.

At least 40 fighters in the history of boxing could have cleared that division that Holmes did. In addition, about 20 fighters or so would have blown a light heavyweight away the second time regardless of the first encounter. It wouldn't take 24 rounds to figure out, which he didn't, a light heavyweight. His resume is padded with 70's retreads and 80's stiffs while avoiding rematches and legitimate threats.

 

I totally disagree.

Mercer: Lewis' struggles weren't jab related. They fought in a uber small ring, only 10 rounds, and Lennox was trying to prove to the American public he had dawg in him. He fought dumb but had nothing to do with the jab.

Vitali: Vitali was effective with his jab early, but an out of shape Lennox adjusted and the jab game changed dramatically in the second half.

Tyson: You are high. Tyson rushed, Lennox threw 3 uppercuts, fight was over. Tyson jab? Didn't happen.

 

I'd go with Lewis late TKO. I'd favoure Lewis vs almost every heavyweight that ever existed.

 

Lewis, just as good a boxer. But more power.

 

I edge towards Larry, really could go either way though.

I think Holmes' speed edge would be key in the battle of the jabs which this fight would come down to as far as who is in control.

 

Larry Holmes. Better jab and technique. Remember how he defeated a bigger guy Gerry Cooney. Great fight with Norton btw

 

Great fantasy fight. I see Larry Holmes as the toughest H2H challenge for LL. Moreso than Ali, Frazier, anyone.

 

This is a pick'em IMO. Lewis has got the reach, size, and power advantage. Holmes has got the advantage in speed and chin.

 

Lewis.

UD or possible stoppage if he catches him with the right shot.

We're talking prime, trained and on good night, both fighters.

Height and reach keep Holmes at bay.

If there's any clinching, Look for Lennox to throw the uppercut.

Both guys are in my alltime top 6.

 

Rahman (2nd fight) and Bruno also gave Lewis some jabbing problems and look what happened to them.

And Holmes had all sorts of trouble against a way past prime Norton.
