    I noticed these three scores:

    Judge: Joe Swessel 135-150
    Judge: Chuck Minker 139-146
    Judge: Lou Tabat 140-146

^Why does the first judge give Holmes EVERY round, while the last two give 4-5 rounds to Berbick?

Who saw the fight and what was your scoring?

At the time the match originally aired, I indeed agreed with Joe Swessel's 150-135 shutout score. Berbick was keeping low and advancing slowly, but that was about it. Holmes had a good streak of eight title defense stoppages going, and I figured Trevor would try to end it the way Arturo Godoy ended one of attentive ringside observer Joe Louis (in the final hours of his life) several decades earlier, by cautiously making the champion retreat to reduce his potency. Larry was a lot more comfortable doing this though, but Berbick did boost his stock tremendously by remaining on his feet through the full 15.

Just prior to Holmes-Berbick, I happened to read a detailed account of Louis-Godoy I, and expected Berbick to attempt something similar. (I put a little money on Trevor to last the distance. Given his earlier starching at the hands of Mercado, it wasn't too difficult to find some takers.)

I haven't reviewed Holmes-Berbick since that initial airing, but if and when I do, I'll try to score it with aggression favored bias as Lou Tabat apparently did. Coming forward does not constitute aggression in and of itself though. Punching has to be included, and the punches have to score.

    Jeez,

It's not like you're getting rare footage of Jessica Alba in bed with Jennifer Aniston man. It's just a fight for Christ's sake and not a very important one at that.

No, but I was a follower of Trever "Not So Clever" Berbick in the 80s......... After he beat Greg Page in 1982 in Vegas, I jumped on his bandwagon all the way until he was massacred by Tyson in '86...... After '86, Berbick just kinda' like hung on here and there.......

Holmes in his prime was really something. All-time great without question.

The Holmes 'drop kick' was almost as good as the Holmes jab.
