cosign. i think AA could beat froch, but how likely is it that he will get that fight in the near future? if he fights someone notable and gives an impressive performance, i think he could gain the opportunity to fight any of the top super middleweights.
There's always Bika. He'll fight anybody, and he's looking for dance partners right now. Trouble is, can you imagine shelling up on the ropes with Bika after you:yikes
But he wanted your boy's titles, the MW championship. Pavlik-Mora, the biggest non-mandated BS fight being rescheduled (FFS) is the smartest move from Mob Arum, smartly avoiding Abraham. This has been going for a while now, and the tactic is clear: sooner or later AA will move up and they can say 'WTF can we do about it, he moved up'. Well, we are at that point I'm afraid. Champ Arthur Abraham should really move up now, no need for another **** 'waiting on Pavlik' defense, because it's never going to happen, why kill the body? The Froch fight would be excellent, in the meantime AA should take on a top15 SMW like Mads Larsen or something in Germany, then have a big fight at the end of the year. I'm really sorry for Kelly's injury and disappointment, but that seems blessing is disguise.
Kelly did indicate that negotiations were difficult with Abraham. Maybe that is why he is moving up? He just isn't going to get what he thought he would in a Pavlik fight? He isn't the first person to overestimate Kelly's earning potential when it came to purse splits. Who was the other person AA called out after Miranda 2? ODLH! I think that shows he was looking for a pay day.
You are probably right. Like I've said before, look at the weigh in pictures going back to Miranda. At 166 he was all smiles and relaxed. So much so he had Tom worried a bit.
Pavlik-AA is bein wasted away, cuz AA ain't gonna be able to stay at 160 much longer. They should fight this fall, but I dunno if the Mora fight is rescheduled or off altogether.
Ok, got some news from the basement of AA's camp: They are still in negotiations with Main Events for a fight vs. Lorenzo on June 27. If it falls trough, they have a plan B aka IBF middleweight top15 fighter which they aren't telling anyone at the moment (understandably). Sauerland is STILL waiting on Pavlik to let his hand "heal". If he fights Mora in August/September, they would give it another 1 or 2 months in addition to the proposed date in early November. If it gets pushed way more back than that, they are not seeing the point for AA to stay at 160 and let him move up by early 2009. In the case of negotiations with Top Rank to fall trough and Pavlik fighting Mora at a later date (like I said above), Abraham will have his mandatory defense vs Lorenzo around September.
I would hope for Quillin but Lyell looks to be a promising deal for Sauerland, also being a logic one...
Lyell had to eat extra to be at 155 for Duddy. He walks around at less. He could cut to WW but feels stronger fight day if he just fights at his natural weight. Of course if Aurthur has trouble making weight it might not be a mis-match. I know the win over Duddy has opened doors for Billy at middle weight, but he is a 154 pounder. One poster said be doesn't think the fight with Mora was ever signed so that shouldn't be a problem for AA's 'natural next opponent'.
Watching Lyell/Duddy reminded me of the "Little Mac" in a video game my son had. If AA comes in drained, he might have a prayer, but he has no KO power and would have to get a points decision. And that is very unlikely.
Considering the history I think the shot should go to Zuniga. Sauerland and the IBF stabbed him in the back when he was Arthur's rightful mandatory. If the Lorenzo fight falls through, they'll have a chance to set things right.
One of the alphabet committees don't allow a guy to have a title shot coming off a loss so that would probably cross out Zuniga. Can't be the only one interested in Karmazin vs Abraham?
