He looked like a cyborg in the corner with the cuts. He did look like muck that night. It's always difficult to know where to draw the line between an opponent making you look bad (and there was a large element of this) and how bad you made yourself look. Just watching back the Andrade highlights I can't help but think we havn't seen Kessler like that for a long time. Still, this should be something completely different compared to the Ward fight. Froch isn't going to be circling the ring taking Kessler's jab away, it will be trench warfare.
Honest to god i was a fan of Kessler but the way he reacted to those cuts was something else made me think of him as something else. Would be great to see the Kessler i remember showing up to this Froch fight would be an all out war, no one taking a step back and waiting on the other guy to fall. Shame its in Herring you going TFFP?
Herring? Isn't that a bird? Or is that a herron? :hey I was hoping I'd be able to go but it seems unlikely as I'm working most weekends. I agree, can't see any way it won't be a good fight. I've never seen either take a backward step. For that reason it would be a surprise if it went the distance to be honest, both men would have to show monstrous chins.
I like Kessler I really do. Liked his style of fighting and even lost a bit on him/Calzaghe, and I also believe him to be a gent of the highest order. The one thing that sticks in my mind was how that fight was so split. It was like 2 different fights. Kessler was clearly getting the better of Calzaghe for the first 5/6 rounds of that fight. He may not have won all those rounds but he was definitely catching Joe and stopping him in his tracks frequently. The uppercuts and rights were looking to land every time. Credit to Joe though because he adapted to Mikkel and changed pretty much everything in the second half of that fight. Mikkel just couldn't seem to grasp what had happened and a way to combat it. He never looked back to his best when he fought Perdomo and I had severe reservations about him being able to beat Ward (as I know you did TFFP). The same thing arose in that fight. Kessler unable to adapt to Ward. Ward made the fight look pretty scruffy as it was and by nullifying Mikkels jab was able to take away a key piece of his arsenal. Kessler once again failed to adapt. Now we all think that Carl isn't going to try and box Mikkel, everyone's expecting a war. But what happens if he tries to box??? Will Kessler expose his (pretty) limited skillset or will the change of plan throw him off ? If it goes to a war will Froch's chin be able to accomodate his poor defence or will his unbelievable desire to win coupled with a very decent chin and punch be able to drag him through ??? Every thinkable tangible to this, is nothing short of a serious probabilty, which makes this just as an exciting prospect as Floyd/Manny
I keep reading it as Herring Should be a war im hoping Kessler gets back on track to make the tournament more exciting. The ****ers also haven't sent me a message about the Kessler tops which was supposed to be a gift from my brother about a year ago You watching this telemundo card?
I think one of the most interesting things will be who can take whos shots. Kessler has always shown a good chin, had one shakey moment against Ward and one against Sartisan but never close to being stopped. Froch too, though he's been hurt a little more and probably in all 3 of his fights at the top level he's been buzzed. Froch probably has more power and Kessler's power at the top level is still up for debate. The power/chin axis is well balanced, should be interesting.
This was going to be my stag do. Me and my mates were thinking of a nice little trip to Copenhagen for the weekend however it looked certain to be on the 17th April which is the day I get married. Glad it's been moved back a week as i'll at least (hopefully) be able to watch it live. I'm also of the mindset that this is going to end brutally before the 12th :good
For some reason i thought you were married Dan good luck to you on the stag I have a feeling in the froch Kessler fight its going to come down to wether Kessler can time froch with his jab and right hand and when froch figures this out and starts pushing wether Kessler can figure him out again. I'm looking forward to this more than Mosley vs Mayweather or most recent fight as this is a fight that can go either way.
I have to say it would be funny to see Froch laid out. Just to hear what his reposte would be post-fight. It's got to happen some point in this tourny, it just has to. He'd be unbearable if he won. That said if he ends Kessler's hopes I'll probably support him. Just because he's the guy nobody would expect to win, probably the most limited in terms of skills and it would reasses how people think about boxing. Looking good ain't everything.
And you would always have to give Froch credit for genuinely seeking the challenges within the sport. LHL nah mate not yet pal. It's coming soon though We're all now getting the coach from football to Aintree for the National and then it's taking us back to Manchester for a evening/night on it :good Not nearly as memorable as going to Copenhagen for this but it means due to the lack of costs a hell of a lot more people could come. I'm sort of going for Abraham or Kessler then froch the Americans are coming off arrogant ****s in that fight camp show. I've been a fan of the three euro's for a while but never really bought into the froch hype although he is great entertainment. Hopefully the undercard for froch and Kessler add to the event/ me making me pay of it. especially after last time near tore my house apart getting my sky box connected to the phone wire
