Leben isn't a technically sound striker. He is a dangerous striker. His odd punching is what makes him so dangerous much of the time. He has a great chin, so many times he lays his face out there so his opponent takes the bait, then as they are hitting him, he is bringing the thunder from Kentucky and blindsides them. He has caught and knocked out many decent fighters.
To be fair he has made a succesful career out of it. He lacks any real speed, but he was born with real power and a good chin. It needs cleaning up no doubt, but against certain types of fighters it works perfectly; Martin was on a tear and a ranked MW but Leben knocked him out, Santiago is a ranked MW and Sengoku champ but Leben KO'd him. Last night it looked worse than normal, but he was clearly winning the fight because of it, although I guess you could put the takedown and sub down to his wild swing and miss. It's a way for a guy to make a niche for himself, he is always one punch away from a win. He would be much better suited to straighten it out no question, but also he needs to depend on power punches less in general; he wrestled very well with Rosholdt, and has a fundamentally sound ground game, his half guard was very good last night, and he should use those tools in addition to just swinging. His leg kicks look OK as well.
it seems the only criticism you have towards mma fighers is if they are ex boxers, stop sucking on lebens dick, the guy is a cheat who used winstrol for his fight against bisping and still got schooled, sat night showed how **** he is without some juice
It seems like he's implying that Leben's punching are better than a good boxer in mma. Why i hate this guy. Its okay. His butt buddy Damian Maia got schooled by Nate Marquart's boxing ability. Thales leites and now this bjj purist. Any1 else see a pattern? bjj as an main offensive arsenal is just not effective in the top role of ufc contenders. Get use to it. Kick:bbb FTW!!!
