He set the record viewing figures for Boxing on Sky Sports for a European level fight and there were close to 10,000 in the arena.

 

Bit of a misleading thread title.

 

Yeah i can respect that Ice :good. I think he's a rough diamond and one that is looking more and more nearer to a article worth putting into the world scene.

I think mentally he's prepared for big fights even now. Honestly i be shocked and saddened if he don't win a world title.

 

Selby is a sadist ***** in the ring and a personal fave of mine.

Like I said, Ive got to take the opinions of people who I respect seriously....I don't actually know what it it is about him that makes me think maybe not. Dealing with Simpson like that ( I ****ing love John Simpson -No Rob) and practically sweeping Lindsay on the cards really has to be respected....They are two of my favourite domestic fighters, maybe I can;t see beyond the beating

 

Smith, Simpson & Lindsay are all higher domestic level fighters. All of them could be European level with the right timing/managment. Selby dominated all 3. Add that to the sparring stories and you have a serious prospect.

Its worth noting those that have seen Selby live always rave about him. Some fighter look better in person compared to on TV.

I think sometimes posters on here focus on the bad in a fighter instead of a good. Fighters improve and Selby has allot of good aspects to his game.

 

He does seem to carry fighters, I don't like that

 

Even then would still be misleading. Theres nothing to show Selby is board. Hes had 2 fights this year and has another one in 5 weeks.

 

I think he needs to be constantly challenged. If he continually is in fights where he is allowed to toy with his opponents, he might not be up for it when he's actually in with someone at his same level imo.

 

Maybe I am confused, your OP seems to say you wete talking to friends about Lee Selby and you didnt know when he was fighting next, not you had been speaking to someone who knew Selby and said he is bored.

 

The IBF Champion is weak. The European champion is No.3 with the IBF. Billy Dib is No.5 and would be a Commonwealth defence. He needs to drop the British and fight these two.
