How this took so many posts to show up, I do not know. Someone was saying that Ward never threw the hook to the body enough. Well, it's a very hard punch to set up. You don't get a ton of opportunities and have to make them yourself. JCC worked the liver hook into his repertoire the most seamlessly of any guy I can remember.
R.Robinson, R.Leonard, R.Jones, damn near EVERY above average fighter from Mexico. The Mexican fighters seemed to be born with great left hooks too the body.
GGG’s body work very good when he was fighting opponents of a certain ilk. He seemed to turn into a bit of a head hunter when he stepped up in class, which is was a massive shame, nevertheless he was a formidable body puncher in his prime.
I agree. I thought his body attack would destroy Canelo and GGG didnt even mount an attack. Not a Canelo fan but he has a great left hook to the body.
Khaosai Galaxy made 19 Title defense's. And this was largely a result of this Mini Tyson right hook to the body which he threw with malevolent intentions.
Just a couple, forgive me if they've been mentioned throughout, as I know a few have. Ricky Hatton Julio Cesar Chavez Tony Zale Mike McCallum Juan Manuel Marquez Alexis Arguello Wilfredo Gomez Carlos Zarate Mickey Ward Mickey Walker
I'm honestly shocked that no one has mentioned Naoya Inoue yet. That's his trademark weapon and he's probably the best left hook body puncher today. He throws it with such ferocity and mean intention. He could have gotten a KO win against Donaire too from that left hook body shot. This content is protected
Just thought of a current guy that is a very good body puncher especially with the left hook. Sergey Lipinets. He strikes me as a guy you would love Mortlocks. Have you seen him fight? Very tough pressure fighter.
Mickey Ward just crushed people with that hook. Barry just had that great leverage on his hook Thomas Hearns had a great hook to the bodg.
Art Hafey was an awesome body puncher, with those short arms and stature of his. Even Olivares had to box him in the second. Hafey stopped him in the first!
