Depends on how Usyk will perform during the next year's. Golovkin's problem was that he only made it to the big stage at age 30. I'm sure Golovkin from 2008 at age 26 would have beaten the top guys from 2008 (Pavlik, Abraham, Sturm, Sylvester or Gevor) If Usyk win's a HW belt and beat's a few good HW's it will sure be Usyk.
He lost to canelo and jacobs and thats the truth!! GGG fan boys are the worst ever! Btw besides canelo and jacobs, fights he lost, his record is ****!!
GGG by a comfortable distance today, and the future for Usyk is cloudy. I excpect some nice things out of him and hope he can bring some excitement to the HW division...but not sure I can make a pick...if so I choose GGG based on the known vs the unknown
If Usyk goes to HW and beats some of those big ass heavyweights, he'll have a greater legacy then GGG.
That is a question that can not be answered until that time arrives. Usyk might prove to be another Kovalev, especially since he is moving to heavyweight. Then again he might be another Holyfield.
One could argue that Usyk did more in 16 fights than Golovkin did in 40, looking at their official records. Golovkin has beaten mostly chumps, since he's had a title. The vast majority of whom wouldn't be one of the top 10 middleweights in other eras. Guys like Rubio, Monroe, Wade, Ouma, Macklin, Ishida, etc. If you compare their five or six best wins Usyk in 16 fights has faced and beaten a better top tier of opponents with Huck, Glowacki, Breidis, Gassiev, Hunter, and Mchunu, vs Jacobs, Brook, Lemieux, Murray, Stevens, and Macklin.
We have to wait for both of them to retire. Right now it looks like Usyk will finish with the better career but we just don't know yet. As it stands now I think it's actually Golovkin. Canelo > Gassiev. Jacobs > Briedis. Murray < Glowacki Murray > Huck (when they fought) Don't feel like doing the rest. In terms of accolades it is Usyk though since he won a gold medal and became undisputed. Two major things Golovkin attempted but failed at.
