You can't name three guys who beat Max Baer who Carnera beat?

You don't think when you beat them has some relevance? I've provided the names myself.

Carnera has better results against the same opposition than Baer.

    This is the bottom line.

One was an overachiever, and one was an underachiever!

This is absolute rubbish, Baer was 20 when Schaaf beat him and 21 when Loughran and Uzcudun did. Anyone wanting to include Schaaf in Carneras list of world class wins is bordering on the verge of necrophilia!

I pity Schaaf. But I have watched that fight, and Schaaf fought well in it. There was no warning until the sudden ending that he was the dead man walking you say he was. If you didn't know the result or the tragic consequences you could not predict that result. The impact and reaction to that final punch was unpleasant. Clearly he carried some undetected brain injury but I saw nothing until the ending that made him fight like a dead man walking.

No. Not one bit. Again I think, and credit is the wrong word here, that heaping the blame on Max Baer just because he already killed someone was wrong. Schaafs whole career was responsible for whatever undetected injurie he carried into the ring with him. Unbeknown to anyone He was a ticking time bomb for goodness knows how long. For all we know for life.

Again, sensational writing of the time has created yet more folklore either wittingly or unwittingly on this matter to diminish Carnera. A blundering oaf who can't crack an egg meets a dead man walking who should not have been in the ring, a man who did not know his own name, walking on his heels and many other things that are not backed up by the film.

With hindsight of course Any man who dies should not have been in the ring. But without hindsight, nobody knew or could see anything wrong.

In truth, Without that ending, Carnera was winning and controlling a competitive fight against a worthy contender. Schaaf was showing no ill effects.

Sometimes there just isn't a reason for this kind of tragedy. But people want answers.

mcvey, I made truthful posts about Carnera .I'm not responsible how a minority interpreted them and I really don't care.

It doesn't affect how his boxing career is viewed but it affects how he should be perceived as a man,and it wasn't me that brought up the issue of his character as mitigation for his lack of ability.

So actually nothing of any interest or relevance from you on this whatsoever. Do you live in fear of missing one of my posts without commenting adversely on it?
