lennox lewis best win

Just comparing Lewis wins to Wlad and Vitali wow the heavyweight division just sucks out loud right now. Giant sucking sound coming from the heavyweights.

It is between Holyfield and Vitali for me.. Both outstanding victories.

 

Very past prime? If he never fought him at all you would probably be saying, in this very thread, how Lewis ducked him.

 

excellent post by IntentionalButt, and what is with this Holyfield 1 revisionist bull****? Holy was the favorite and considered the best HW on the planet. that is his best "win" cause it finally made all the doubters (and there were many, esp in the States) look at Lewis in a new light.

Lewis was criminally marginalized during his prime and should have fought Holy / Tyson a lot earlier as well as Bowe, but people brushed him aside cause he was not Box Office. He went and beat almost every contender in his era before getting a shot at Holy and claiming his rightful place in history.

Eisenfaust is the clear #2, well ahead of Razor at #3 (who is himself well ahead of the rest of the pack) but that isn't good enough for his fans. :-( They have to attack the credibility of a Hall of Fame champion who may not have been in the very thick of his prime but was still a top 1 or 2 heavyweight and very recently an occupant of the most widely recognized p4p lists.

 

Yes i am wrong claiming Holyfield was 'very past prime', but he was nothing like the man who fought bowe 1 + 2/ first title reign, when he was young he threw fast and frequent combos and had brilliant stamina, the holy that fought Lewis was not like that, although he was more experienced and could make fights more awkward. And holy being favourite and number 1 etc does not mean he was at his best.
Not trying to put lewis down, i personally have him between 3 - 5 ieh

 

:good Yes they were, and that is a reasonable attitude even though I see a pretty clear hierarchy between them (and between Klitschko and Ruddock, and between Ruddock and the rest).

What is unreasonable is mocking Holyfield at #1 or saying Klitschko ought to undoubtedly rank higher. :blood That is just fanatical nonsense.

I actually don't get why so many people have Vitali as Lewis' best win, Vitali was still an up-and comer when he faced Lewis, the only top guy he faced before was Byrd, while Holy had been in 3 wars with Bowe, he also beat guys like Tyson, Mercer, Holmes, Foreman (both obviously shot) or Moorer

Look at the legitimate, albeit extreme, examples of debate going on and worth talking about regarding his resume.

Some "GOAT HW" Lewis was... Jeez, I can't believe so many people think that. It happened in the span of the past 2 years. When I first came on this forum, nobody claimed Lennox was the GOAT HW, he was in nobody's top 3 ATG HW's and almost no top 5 lists, he was not particularly seen as the GOAT H2H HW. It's like people really got annoyed by the K bro's even more 2 years ago (Haye fight, cough) and just like how everybody thinks Duran KO'd a horse and that Vitali has amazing unstoppable power, a myth was spread among boxing fans like the plague.

To answer the thread:

3. Ruddock

4-6 no order. Golota, Tyson, Tua

7 and 8. Rahman II and McCall II; only because he got KTFO by them previously, these would not make the cut on almost any other ATG HW's top 10 victories list.

 

Agree. Tyson was more "out" vs Douglas.
Also, we must admit that Tyson was FAR better fighter when he fought Douglas and Holyfield (and 13-15 lbs lighter). 2002 version of Mike had no stamina and looked tired as early as in the 2nd round vs Lewis.

Tyson is a great name, but average win in Lewis resume, realistically

 

He didn't win Vitali.

 

:rofl Thats ridiculous for even the biggest die hard Lennox fans to say. Most of the guys Lennox beat were bums or past prime fighters.
